I've got a load of cookie cutters I've rarely used. Going to get rid of 90%, just keep a couple of good quality ones. They're going today.
ОтветитьThank-you so much Dawn. Teaching our kids how to make decisions about purchasing and decluttering and cleaning is so important.
I love you and I can’t believe the difference you’ve made in my life !
Decluttering for nine years and you aren't done yet? Or you keep wasting money on crap that you throw away again? This is totally asinine.
ОтветитьI love the word fruits ❤❤❤
ОтветитьI've needed this for years. My husband has fussed so much about the amount of stuff we have and now, I feel lucky to have found you and this site since I can relate to everything you are saying. I was starting to think I needed to go to counseling but honestly, I hear what you are saying loud and clear and you're so inspiring that I am getting stuff out of the house. Now, my husband is saying he's happy for me that I'm taking action. He is the minimalist, or so he thinks. This is helping me so much!! Thank you, thank you a million times. You are doing great work for the many of us that desperately need it.
ОтветитьWondering how you seat a family of 6 at a table with only 4 chairs? Love you!
ОтветитьDawn - you’re the BEST ‼️🙋♀️🥰👍👏👏👏‼️
ОтветитьThat is sooooo true!!!! it takes me so much time to put stuff away that I can never actually get to the cleaning part!!! Haha
ОтветитьI used to wonder why when I got angry/upset/disappointed, I would "rage clean". It was because subconsciously I was trying to exercise the only control I felt that I had at the time. Now that I am well into my minimal-ish journey, I am better able to keep my home clean AND handle the stressors in life. This video is spot on!
Ответитьthank you so much! ❤
ОтветитьDawn, do you have any preparation for worst case scenario/doomsday? If so would love a video or info on how you handle this as a minimalist.
ОтветитьI would love to join your mentorship group, if it wasn't on Facebook
Ответить“Too many open loops”, LOVE that picture!!❤
Ответить@theminimalmom - after 1000 days of decluttering, how much time do you now spend each month decluttering?
Ответить❤️
Ответитьif Im being honest, Im blind to the clutter (I love to read, l, earn language and am a lifetime learner so books/notebooks etc everywhere) and because I actually find what I need quickly. But I LOVE to donate stuff! So, maybe the joy will come then.
ОтветитьI find something to declutter every day. And everytime it feels so good.
2 weeks ago I was in trouble. I really wanted to have Vinyls to listen to music. It felt wrong at first to bring in stuff, but it was well thought about and because the rest of the house is decluttered I could do it. I found a designated spot for the player and vinyls and I am happy so far.
Has anyone made such an experience?
❤
ОтветитьAnyone got any help on “landfill guilt”? I don’t want to have to literally throw things away that cannot be reused or recycled so keep it for years but don’t use it either… Thank you!
ОтветитьDid I understand correctly? Body-doubling two times a day? What is that? Thank you!
ОтветитьDawn, you are the sweetest! I'm not in the mentorship group, but it sounds like you are a faithful friend there. I'm amazed that you do that. I appreciate your faithfulness in putting out helpful videos each week. They do help me. Thank you so much! I've come a long way, and your videos keep me going when I have a few minutes here or there.
ОтветитьWhat is that coffee maker
ОтветитьThank you Dawn for the Inspiration!
I have experienced every single benefit on your list and am so determined to go further in my declutterring. All the best to you and your family.
So where is the line between just tidying by taking out the recycling and decluttering extra boxes
ОтветитьI have been enjoying your videos since 2020 and have made great strides in decluttering and being able to keep my house tidy. So much so that my husband will make random comments about how he appreciates the “feel” of our house. I couldn’t help but think of the movie Overboard where the husband comes home late one night and looks around the house that his wife has made into a home. My favorite part of the movie. Thank you for all you do.
ОтветитьI’m starting to declutter, however I wish I had friends with this same mind set. My husband and my friend’s are always wanting more things 🤦🏻♀️
ОтветитьI don‘t remember which video it was, but I loved when you were talking about the fact that all of our stuff is constantly talking to us, Dawn. I‘m actually pretty good with decluttering, but I always have a hard time deciding what to do with it then. Can I sell it or is that too much work? Do I have the bandwidth? eBay, fleamarket,…? Or do I donate it? If so, where and to whom? Does anyone want this stuff? It‘s still good, it was expensive,… Or do I throw it away? But I have to drive it to the recycling station and then pay for it to be gone… And while I‘m trying to figure it out, more stuff accumulates in the basement or that one room you always keep the door closed.
Only your concept made me realize that all of that stuff is constantly talking to me: „What are you going to do with me, what are you going to do with me? Make a decision!“ So I started making decisions and actually getting the stuff out of the house. And it feels so good! Thank you for all the inspiration!
I regret throwing away some of the stuff. Period. I hate when I needed the whatever and realized it's gone. But, I am happy to have less. I always go back to what can i use instead? It is a mental and emotional struggle. I know I don't want extra work around the house. So I have to ask the hard question. Do i really need it. Is it useful? I love having stuff but I hate more having to maintain it. ... thank you but this is deconstruction....of growing up with little, having some and then get rid of it because is not worth it... ? Is not? 😢
ОтветитьI just want to say I LOVE your presentation style. You're so cheerful and upbeat while still being so relatable, it encourages me that this is something I can handle, too. Best wishes to you and your lovely family from Ecuador. :)
Ответить“Decluttering reduces stress and anxiety”, 2 minutes later “The first thing you should do is buy this Helix mattress”
I think part of the issue in our modern society is constantly being told to buy STUFF. Buy buy buy shop shop it’ll make you feel better things will change.
cool
ОтветитьDon’t love the advertising that randomly starts. I have a mattress thank you.
Ответить(Wife typing) Dawn, I know it's super individual to each family because of ages and stages, but could you do (or do you already have) a video about decluttering homeschool materials???? I feel stuck in the "What if" mindset for if we ever need the curriculum again for a child with a certain learning style or...just all the "if's". Thank you!
ОтветитьHelp! I want to be more minimal, we have 6 people in under 1200 Sq ft and it is tight! Everytime I get rid of anything my mom gave us as gifts she gets very upset with me. I am a total people pleaser and this causes me so much emotional pain. How do I declutter without the guilt and shame?
ОтветитьDawn, you have helped me so much!! My life has changed because of you. Thank you so much for what you do! You're a blessing!
ОтветитьI actually get more joy from getting rid of things than acquiring things
ОтветитьI desperately want to declutter and become a minimalist household. I'm feeling so overwhelmed though on how to start.
My husband and I have both kept too many things while moving across the country, and we've got 4 kids under 7.
I'm on my road to declutter my home, I live in a very small apt, and my stuff feel overwhelming here. I do a little at a time bc its Hard.
Thank you for your videos❤.
We purchased a TV after 20 years of not owning one. You described us to a T with binging series, we’re into Blacklist. James Spader is a phenomenal actor and we just cannot get enough of him. We easily watch 3 to 4 episodes per night😮!! 10 seasons, it’s a lot of TV watching, at times we have to take a 2 to 3 day break!
ОтветитьI love to watch your videos. Somehow the speed of talking and the information which you are giving to us makes my mind thinking of another associations, when I want to talk to someone about the problem and make them understand. For example I now remembered how you have to close the 20 tabs in the browser or the applications on the phone in order that they can work properly ;)
ОтветитьI had my great grandmother china, cups and saucer sets, teapots, etc. I dont use them and my kids dont want them, but i wanted them to have a purpose. There is a historic home in my town, Parkwood, that hosts a teahouse all summer, and has several large tea event on their large property, and i asked them if theyd be interested in them. They took it all, so theyll get used for years. Plus my hubby and i were married on the property 29 years ago, special memories there.
ОтветитьYou’re so fun to listen to. You’re so happy!
Ответить“This stuff doesn’t live in our homes for free.” 🤯😍
ОтветитьI'm really struggling with getting my husband to come on board with this. I am trying with the reminder of 'don't put it down, put it away' (the 4yr old is more happy to follow along!). Unfortunately, it just isn't sticking. I am not his mother but it feels like it with the constant reminders. I stopped picking it up myself as it is not my mess (& it's just another job & mental load I need to tackle). Does anyone have any tips for this?
ОтветитьGood job as usual. Declutterring is the catalyst to so many great things.
ОтветитьIs decluttering a husband to manage mess an option? 😉
Asking for a friend 😅
❤❤❤
