Thought I recognized Lord Spodas voice! :)
ОтветитьNorthern Maine has always been rural and sparsely populated. Not dying.
ОтветитьMaine a well kept secret of what paradise is ...
ОтветитьThese are huge homes but really very nice 😊
ОтветитьNorth of Bangor the traffic is lower.
ОтветитьLook at the size of these houses! Beauties!
ОтветитьVisit Rumford!!
ОтветитьWhat about substance abuse issues ?
Might account for crime? I had a friend come here to teach she said it was different ( houlton)
91.. beautiful
ОтветитьHere in Boston we make it a point to go spend some money up there over the summer, though I personally never get further north than Wells Beach.
ОтветитьPainting houses purple is a global problem, you see it in every decaying region of the globe.😂
ОтветитьPoverty is relative. Especially if you don't factor in the price of outstanding natural beauty and clean air.
You could probably drink the water from a local river if you head out of town a few miles.
Compare that with somewhere like London, or New York, or LA. Where you're breathing in toxic fumes, regardless of your income. Where the rivers and waterways are toxic, and if you fell in one, you'd need to speak to a doctor. Drinking from one would certainly put you in a hospital.
Where all you see is concrete, and to find a place with wide open spaces, would require you driving for at least 10-15 miles.
How do you put a price on that. Where nature is within walking distance of not only your home, but your town centre.
So the idea of poverty really underlines the problem we have with modern society. Is how little we value the natural environment.
In a way, by doing so, it makes every single one of us poorer for it.
Wow.....I knew he was a Freemason, but I wasn't sure about him being a President.......
ОтветитьLook at the difference between rural South and rural North.
The South is run dow, desolate and depressing.
The North is lively, vibrate and full of life.
" the county " ...good God
ОтветитьBut how many months of the year do they have snow here?
ОтветитьI believe purple was a period color for houses during Victorian times.
ОтветитьWhere's the litter?
ОтветитьSounds like a great retirement community! Bring your money with you and live in peace, what's not to love?
ОтветитьRemember, these homes have paid for in full a long time ago.
Ответитьi live in New Brunswick. Moved back here after living out west 30 years.i love the low population. it’s wonderful. No need to tell anyone. Move along ,nothing to see here…😂
ОтветитьFrom Houlton, take US Rt1 north to Fort Kent, where my parents used to live. Lots of small towns that are in similar situations. One thing that hit the area hard was the closing of Loring AFB in Limestonw, ME.
ОтветитьWhen you are highlighting gas prices/house averages/age groups/etc, please include in your verbal narrative the year you are noting/filming these figures. Your videos are enjoyable and helpful, however as years go by it would be nice to allow for some probable fluctuation in current market figures.
ОтветитьMain is quiet n nice u should see what ya are seeing for people
ОтветитьTrivia: Maine is the closest state to the continent of Africa.
ОтветитьIt’s a hunting state and their gun policy’s have made it hard on people living there because they rely on deer and moose and trapping to offset their grocery bill, not a lot of high paying jobs and everything is getting so expensive they have moved to areas where jobs are better ! They have to abandon their way of life to survive!
ОтветитьNo billboards allowed on I-95 in Maine, it's awesome. Winter is, brutal. Had Houlton Regional Hospital as an account. I lived in Boston, 8hr drive to Houlton.
Ответитьhigh standard of living state: California. Best beach towns state: Florida. Beautiful highway state: Virginia. Best state to live: one & only Texas
ОтветитьI really appreciate your effort to show us places all over our country. I also appreciate the tone of your videos. You give us the straight facts and give them with sympathy and respect for the towns and the people who live in them.
Ответить51 k yearly that's like $25 an hour, must be government jobs, surely minimum wage ain't near that
ОтветитьLooks like a good place to live. Clean, orderly, peaceful.
ОтветитьThis would be a great place to work remotely from.
ОтветитьDon't think it ever gets warm in Maine!!
ОтветитьI look at these kinds of videos.
I’m wondering, where are all the people !?
High crime rates and high property rates no wonder every one is leaving.
ОтветитьPopulation 📉, Environment🌱📈
ОтветитьI would love to live in Maine
ОтветитьThank you. I couldn't make it here when I was trucking.
ОтветитьPlease share what kind of vehicle you drove - am on the lookout for a used Honda or what can you recommend?
Many thanks for a lovely presentation!
Maine is a nice place, I would like to move there but taxes are too high.
ОтветитьNew immigrants can revitalise these towns.
ОтветитьHmm the Canadiens could attack from three directions up there. Keep alert.
ОтветитьAlways loved the idea of living in MAINE, but I’d stick out like a sore thumb in this town 😂😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьAmish because they are. Houlton was a big Airforce base town until the base got closed in the mid 1990s
ОтветитьDid you meet Dick Hurts from Holden?
ОтветитьFrom 1970-72, I lived in Houlton and attended Ricker College. One winter day, with the snow piled 5-feet high, I looked out my window in the boarding house where I rented a room on the third floor. There was a young woman with a very young child that walked to the front door. Later, I asked the owners if they had rented a room to her. The owners replied, "No, we won't rent to her. She is divorced."
At that time, Houlton had a population of 12,000, with about 3,000 unemployed. The biggest event of the year was the potato crop harvest. Ricker College had a ratio of 4 men for every one woman. After two years, I left and drove cross-country in my Dodge window van to Santa Barbara. It was quite a change of scenery...😉
yah- but u need a generator, plow truck, guns and ammo... OH MY!
ОтветитьYou should Drive through the Adirondack Mountains and stop in Lake Placid You won’t be disappointed.
