This is such a great video! I actually figured out how you can use two separate USB mics AND have them on SEPARATE tracks. If you have OBS studio, you can have 2 mic inputs (let's say mic 1 and 2) those two mic inputs are now being recorded in ONE track. To set into TWO tracks, go to SETTINGS, OUTPUT, REORDING then to the bottom select AUDIO TRACK and check the boxes to 2. Hit apply. Now go to the main viewing, you should have your 2 mics set up from the start. Go to where the volume metre is and right click then advanced audio properties. You will see that all the tracks are selected. In this case, we don't want desktop audio so don't tick any boxes for that. For your two mics (mic 1 and 2) select which track you want mic 1 and 2 is. So mic 1 is on track 1 and 2 is on track 2. Start recording and make sure that the file is in FFmpeg as Audacity accepts this file from OBS. Once you have doe the recording, go to AUDACITY and import the file. Select both files by doing ctrl+select and then you have both mics on separate tracks. They won't be named 1 and 2 but they will be on the order you put them in OBS. Say mic 1 is on tops and 2 is on bottom, in AUDACITY, it will be in that order. There you go, you now can record 2 mics in separate tracks for free. I tried with with a USB mic and a Lavalier mic all connected in one laptop and it works good. Just some editing as my lav sounds way too bassy and the USB sounds perfect. Hope that helped
ОтветитьHow do you deal with bleed over from the other mic possibly creating and echo?
Ответитьwhy would you want to combine the mics into one track at recording time? To me it would be better to have 2 track (one per mic) so you can control the audio individualy, cut any noise you want like someone coughing and normalize the levels for both (if someone is louder than the other) and then in the in post combine and export the mix. That way you have complete control of the sound. That's want I do anyway.
