I never watch Linguamarina because of her frequent mistakes ,and unless you are a native speaker you probably wouldn´t know the difference . Whereas Lucy i think is better and a lot more beautiful as well.

If you want to speak proper English never follow rap music, slang from streets, and dont look at how celebreties or sportsmen talk. They usually lack education and can't speak properly. Being native does not mean you speak properly, check out how Ivanka Trump does not know what complecit mean. That is what common people talk in the streets. Academic English is different. There is a word posh. Have you heard how Boris Johnson talks? Your bar for speaking English is too low. I remember I asked somebody when you know that you are a good swimmer and he answered if they through you in the water you can swim back. I wonder with this definition what is the difference between an olympic champion and a person who swims just for two weeks.

Great video. It was necessary to be said. I guess we are fed up of listening the "don't use this nor use that..." with the only purpose of the teachers to get more views in the videos they make.

Thank you very much! I gave up watching those channels because of the sense of anguish and stress they cause when you spend an entire life learning a language that appears to avoid any approval or encouragenent to the poor one who still wants to 'sound native'.

You are taking everything out of context! I stopped watching after Lucy! She’s giving advice to people who are going to do the C2 proficiency level Cambridge exam. Examiners will want you to show off your knowledge and extensive vocabulary, hence instead of saying very small, you’d say minute or tiny…. Instead of very hot weather, you’d say torrid or scorching… I’m not a teacher of course, just studying for my C2 exam….. besides I wouldn’t want to get advice from American teachers when trying to pass a Cambridge exam…. I love English with Lucy

Lucy is advocating for a more refined use of English - and it's perfectly understandable in the context of her videos. Of course, unless someone is an absolute beginner (and therefore not even able to understand what Lucy is saying in English) everyone knows that 'very' is a most basic word in English. Attacking another channel is not the best way to win over esteem and appreciation.

When I talk to a person that is not a native speaker of English (which most of people are if you don't live in UK or USA) I pronounce T in these words on purpose becuase it's better understandable for them. I remember when I was talking with my co-worker about watching Castlevania on Netflix and when I sad "kaslvejnia" (written like in Czech alphabet), he didn't get it, I had to repeat it in Czenglish "kastlvánija" and then he got it, so this is a problem, you know how it should be pronounce, but you simplify it to make other people around you understand it more clearly.

Both "Your dog is admirable" and "Your dog is cute" are grammatically correct, but they convey different meanings:

"Your dog is admirable" suggests that the dog has qualities that are worthy of admiration, such as bravery, loyalty, or good behavior. It's a bit more formal and implies respect for the dog's character or actions.

"Your dog is cute" simply refers to the dog being physically attractive or endearing in a way that makes people smile or feel affection. It's more common in everyday conversation when commenting on a dog’s appearance.

Perhaps "Your dog is cute" is more commonly used than "Your dog is admirable".

Oh, come on! Even I can tell Lucy used this approach to make a point through humor and a bit of controversy. Obviously, she wasn’t being literal. I think this guy is doing the same—just using Lucy's fan base to raise awareness. And that’s fine! No worries; we love Lucy and understand her style. By the way, the full video is a gem. I really appreciate the accuracy of his corrections after the first set. Awesome teacher. Thank you so much!

Thanks for calling them out on this! Excellent content! The proliferation of self-proclaimed language experts is appaling. I've been trying to explain this to my higher level students who want to sound more natural, but they usually tend to gravitate toward the synonims which make them sound unnatural. I'll use this video from now on.

guys, if you don’t like her videos, just don’t watch it, there’s no need for you to create a 5-hour long video to criticize her work, you just show yourselves as white sexist men, that don’t believe in women in that position and her contents, if you are mysoginist, stop trying to put a veil under your prejudice and saying her content is distracting, just assume your hateful positions about women and an immigrant, this channel barely criticize men

She's a British speaker...you're probably seeing this through an American English perspective.. well this way, you're just imposing YOUR standards over a British speaker, and that would mean you're just being a linguistic chauvinist..that's all you're looking like.
