My own boss told me “Eight hours must be enough. If you can’t manage to achieve something in 8 hours, you are doing something wrong” and I agree with him.

I haven't watched the whole video, but the segments I saw reminded me of my overseas PhD days in the US. I can't begin to thank my friends enough for everything. The only thing I regret was not visiting Latin America beyond that one trip to Mexico.

Excellent video! I could really relate to many points, even though for sure this is not a representative sample. Sometimes you simply wonder how people have courage to continue. Everyone has a unique experience, but for me it is totally worth it.

Too many people getting PhDs in this day and age. It should be acquired for the right reasons, which is normally to gain deep knowledge in a particular field.

These lovely PhD students have a very different experience than I do in my PhD work. My work is mainly online and alone. I must extend myself to socialize and interact with others in the same situation. I would love the Cambridge experience, but I am also quite excited to continue my PhD journey. Best wishes to everyone embarking on this journey!

As PI/professor in a PhD program I would like to hear the same questions asked to people in my position.

Also, for those considering it: If you have good self discipline, can deal with stress, and work hard you do great on a PhD. It's not about how smart you are. Being really smart helps a little, but isn't required.

It's kind of like military boot camp. You aren't going to get kicked out, but you are definitely going to want to quit 100 or more times.

4-16 hours on my doctoral work, depending on how long I work at my full time employer. Working full time and pursuing a doctorate level degree can be incredibly intense. My weekends are typically full of research and feeding.

After my MBA, I did a lot of vocational training followed by a whole bunch of certifications like the PMP, RMP, ACP and about 25 others, all while working full time. I switched majors multiple times so that I had 270 semester hours by the time I finished it. That gave me a Plan B, C, all the way through Z. It was one of my last certs that got me my last job.

As a PhD student + an international student where I am studying, it can be hard sometimes, especially when my one goal is to work and live here after my thesis. Sometimes it feels overwhelming but I tell myself that I am on the right path. For anyone reading who is in a similar situation as me, I wish us the best of luck and I hope you can also take care of yourself.

The biggest problem in physics is surely people with highly dysfunctional physics Theories promoting them as fact and their arrogance to refuse to acknowledge where they are wrong.
You would of course question my qualifications in maths and physics, given all academic institutions teach particle and big bang physics which are both problematic and increasingly violated I havent completed such,however..... I have the math, ive found the Equations of alpha 1/137 which are vortex Equations which I explain. i in the Schrodinger equation alone tells us that matter is made of vortexes/twistors moving through a lattice, never in the history of physics has an object like a particle or ball been projected/fired into empty space and moved in a corkscrew path. However one can talk to a particle physicist for hours, days, years and they will not face the facts which upsets them and their cosy salary, popularity, ambitions etc So if you want the truth, the model of physics which works with no assumptions, lies, fairytale mathematical cheats or weak dubious interpretations the most recent video on my channel provides the proof that the Goldbach Conjecture is true, I proved a higher loop in the Collatz Conjecture is impossible but mathematicians seem to be suffering the same catatonia as particle physicists concerning what I prove so I proved the Goldbach Conjecture true just in case they're too tired and upset to follow the Collatz Proof, the Goldbach Conjecture is much simpler to understand a. In the video description there are links to key videos explaining
a) the correct model of physics including the correct way to read and make sense out of John Bell's Theorem, The Universe definitely is real. The particle model is not, they are vortexes, waves and vortexes going in and out of manifolds.
B) Where Einstein got it wrong, You cannot have an inertial frame of reference, energy is a product of movement, everything is moving and Special Relativity is about how clocks are affected by the levels of energy in the system, time itself is Universal, clocks vary in how they measure time but time does not vary.
c) The statistical inequality in the double slit experiments with links to the peer reviewed papers in the relevant videos and website.
d) The correct way to interpret Cosmic Redshift which is predominantly energy loss due to passing through gravitational fields.
If you want to be a true scientist with true Integrity you will talk about my work on your channel. If you want to avoid the likely psychotic backlash of attacks from the hoards who you are likely to upset I suggest just make a video explaining I HAVE proven the Goldbach Conjecture true and provide a fully functional totally unified, no assumptions, no scifi, consistent with ALL the evience Grand Unified Field Theory, THE Theory of Everything and let everyone read it and make up their own mind. I suggest under 5 minutes even a 60 second short, people have short attention spans especially when faced with indisputable facts which they do not want to face.
I suggest you do it immediately because in case you need reminding (it's unbelievable how many people who call themselves scientists do) scientific advancement and scientific communication depends on FACTS.  The longer the facts are hidden the longer we face the many problems on this planet which pseudoscience, bad science and cowardice facilitate. Problems which there are solutions to if the political will, courage and integrity are found. If it is found and physicists face the facts we have a vastly increased chance of combating and halting the onslaught against trees, oceans and the loss of over 2.7 million trees a day, 150,000 species lost to extinction per year, human trafficking of Millions of women, boys and girls where the reality is our next Emmy Noether, Marie Curie, Andrea Ghez or Jocelyn Bell could be (as I type) locked up in a brothel somewhere without even access to basic literacy (I have an experiment to test for the mechanism of Spooky action in the double slit experiment based on the same principle as quantum Entanglement which if it works can be applied to technology and will end human trafficking in a matter of days, believe it or not, I'm not saying it 100% it will work that would not be science but I believe 99.99999% it will because the experimental evidence imdicates it will, testing is science, so far none of the physicists working on grants from the military industrial banking complex will try) , OK I'm at the point where I am starting to get angry and rant, I'll stop. Please be scientific, have courage, dare to step out of line and acknowledge the facts. My Theory of Everything is dense, it is not easy reading for so many reasons mainly due to the subjective barriers people have to facing facts which means they will not even read something which they start to sense will challenge them so I have to try and address their biases before they even are faced. The videos linked in the video description below the Proof to the Goldbach Conjecture are all short and fairly straight to the point, you will see I have the correct model when you watch them, whether you have the courage and integrity to acknowledge that on your channel without delay is up to you. If you do, may the force of love/truth be with you.

Calling a PhD the most advanced degree sounds ignorant. What about a доктора наук? My Russian “bachelor’s degree” is treated as a Master’s degree all around the world. Furthermore, I’m supposed to have a dissertation completed to finish a Master’s degree in computer science.
