Upgrade to OMV6

Does the OMV 6 upgrade include an upgrade to Debian 11, or do I have to upgrade the Linux OS outside of this? My kernel is currently at: Linux 5.10.0-0.deb10.16-amd64

Hey, few days ago file shares stopped working, unable to access through the tv/pc/phone. Turned out it automatically updated to omv6 now it says both my attached hard drives are missing. I am unable to use edit on any of them, it gives error(click left button to return to previous screen or something like that) can something be done without loosing data on the drives? Thinking about reinstalling the omv6.. It's runing on raspberry pi4.

Question: I just and a bad drive and needed to pull it, but now I'm seeing a missing drive under Storage + File System, and I can't seem to remove it without installing the old drive, which I can't. Do you have any suggestions on how to remove the missing File System?

Oh boy. Docker apparently made some big change and has killed portainer from working on OMV. Many many people have lost the ability to manage their containers. something to do with apparmor. I've tried the various commands in the support forums that were supposed to work - but Portainer no longer loads - even though my actual dockers are running. Perhaps you can do a rescue video - or is the solution to load something else like Yacht?

Hi TDL …..will the existing settings from OMV5 follow over to OMV6 ….i.e portainer/ plex ….drive pool and other stuff already configured or will there be much reconfiguring again? I just want a ‘plug n play’ upgrade without having to redo much stuff.

Hi, OMV6 do not support SMB 1 version, and because off that older media players do not see smb share on a network. That is big problem for me, just information for people who is using OMV for media play. Do not upgrade to OMV6.

I have a question (I already asked in another older video of yours): What is the difference in using RAID in "Storage>>Raid Management" and in "zfs>>Create Pool>>RAID-Z*"?
I'm going to use the ZFS file system. Do I have to create the Raid directly in the ZFS options (zfs>>Create Pool>>RAID-Z*)? If I want to grow my pool, add more disks, is it possible?

Just upgraded from OMV 5 to 6

Hallo Dad, I try to upgrade my OMV 5 to version 6. Accordingly I use the commands “sudo omv-upgrade” and “sudo omv-release-upgrade”.Unfortunately I have got the response “command unknown”. Do you have any recommendation?

Why the messed instructions????? All it takes to upgrade from 5 to 6 is two commands:
omv-upgrade && omv-release-upgrade

You're instructing people to install plugins they don't use and will give errors if installed.
NUT is one of them since not all people have an UPS attached and it will SPAM the syslog for the lack of it.

What was the reason for those instructions on the video? To make it big enough to hit the ~4min milestone?

I'm watcing this video because I always got error for a command while try to update my Pi.
I did everything that I could find from internet and in this video, maybe I did anything wrong but nothing works.
Then I just realized, I connected to wrong server IP. lol

Installed OMV6 and it crashed after I added storage. Switched to T…NAS and everythings is fine now. Unbelieveable they made OMV so bad 😢

This is great, thanks so much! However, my OMV system is full (looks like my log folder is full of GB files). Any advise on how to delete those files (is it safe to do so?)

Hello, just a word of caution, may not affect you, but i did this upgrade a few months ago, and it completely broke all my timemachine badkuos; after the upgrade they all failed consistency checks. All lost.

A few weeks too late, for me, but great video none the less.
