Funny. I’m new to bourbon. Oregon here, we got Buffalo trace all day long. It’s hardly even popular here at all. I can get it every day of the week. Store picks. Regular. Almost the same price

Had my first taste of Blanton's this past week. I was underwhelmed. I thought it lacked depth & character. Not bad at all but not that interesting. I tasted it next to a Stagg which I thought was much better.

Blantons > RHF > ETL in the last side-by-side tasting I did of 3 freshly opened bottles. Actually tried two Blantons, the Japanese version which is apparently aged two years longer, and the American one. I slightly preferred the American one, which was unexpected. Japanese bottle label looks nicer though, and was just VERY slightly behind the regular Blantons imo. This was a non-blind tasting, and the results were almost the opposite of what I expected. I figured I would like ETL the most, and RHF the least. ETL was the smoothest, but it felt very muted in aroma and taste. Seems like it would have been better at a higher proof.

I am late to the party but i just want Blanton's because the bottle looks so cool. That said the bottle, the figure, and labor for hand bottling is all money that didn't go into the whiskey. So yeah probably better stuff in more modest bottles for similar price. I think I saw that they were the first single barrel product so they probably inspired a lot of the better stuff.

Can't get a bottle of Blantons around here for less than $150 and I've seen different variations at $280. Eagle Rare if you can find it is $80 minimum as well. Trace was about $35 at the same location.

NO!!!! They are not worth the hiked up prices. Love Elmer T Lee and Eagle Rare, but I'm not paying more then $40 for Elmer or Eagle Rare. all the allocation that BT does, has hiked up prices across the board. I'll buy from their competitors.

I have buffalo trace available to me at several locations year round. It's around $22-24.

Eagle rare is harder to find an if I do find it is usually around $40-$45

Blanton's for get about it and I find it over hyped.

Colonial Eh Taylor is harder to find than eagle rare for me when. It's usually around $65-$70...

Stagg comes across several times a year at $150.

In 2007 or 2008 a bar I worked at had a AYCD special on Friday night. Of the whiskies included Crown ran out first, then Jack, then Beam, Buffalo Trace was part of the special but it was not well known. We tried to push it but the student crowd was really shy about brands they hadn't heard of and would choose Beam or Seagram's 7 over BT. Blew my mind then, blows my mind even more now that I wasn't able to GIVE AWAY Buffalo Trace

I can't find any BT bottles in my area and really wanted to try a Blanton's. Paid $280 for a Blanton's: Straight from the Barrel bottle, from a website. 131 proof...WOW. At first I was a little disappointed at the taste but now it's my favorite. I like this one on ice, I feel it really brings out the flavor. Hoping I can find it for a more reasonable price some time in the future.

I’m new to the bourbon community. I’m a scotch man. I really enjoy your videos. They fill my head with good choices to try when I need a new bottle. The prices you say are way cheaper than my area. I’m in Georgia. Finding Blantons is equal to winning the lotto here. Very hard to find in stores and they average $96-120 per fifth.
Now Elmer T is rarer then Hens teeth.
I’ve yet to ever see a bottle for sale.

Other than the Rock Hill Farms, which is available by me here in NY for a small fortune, the first four I have in my possession. BT I paid $34, ER 10 I paid $51, Blanton's I paid $64.95, and E T Lee I just paid $41.95. I'm on the hunt all the time and my local liquor store guy has the best prices. Anywhere in NY. He believes in charging retail prices only which puts him in a rare category for retailers.

Eagle rare is never 'rare' here in Arizona...always on shelves and under 40$...it is like 35$ and barrel selected version are around 37$.I dont recall it ever being hard to find isince I first had a bottle over a decade ago. Even a decade it was 30$, it has only gone up a few dollars in a decade.
