What so good about all this so called branded SSD

Absent from this review is the Crucial MX500.
It is one of the fastest SATA based SSDs available, and its performance is basically a photo-finish with the Samsung EVO SSDs.

Although the EVO has a slight edge in some narrow benchmarking tests, you will not notice the difference.
Even if you used one of the SSDs for weeks, and someone swapped it for the other one, you will not know.

And the MX500 costs significantly less than the EVO.

It is odd that the MX500 was not included in this "WINNERS" buying guide, since it is a podium winner, and is the most price friendly in the field at that performance level.

Guy's should I buy the Samsung 860 EVO or the Corsair MP400
Building my first decent PC, i ordered the 860 already but It's not gonna be in stock to be delivered for a while. So i'm debating on cancelling the 860 and getting a different one but I'm not entirely sure, both SSDS 2TB run me about 300$ cad. I'm no pro can I get some help? Thank you in advance! :D

I have been using in a fair number of computers. I have been using the 860 EVO 1TB, Crucial MX-500 1TB, and the Kingston 1TB. They have been very reliable.

HDDS last long than SSDS?
I doubt it, they are mechanical, they wear down and break.
I've been using ssds for 10 years without any obvious failures.
I'd guess that generally speaking an SSD will outlive a HDD (of equal capacities and workloads)

There's gonna be ssds that live longer than hdds and vice versa, there's many variables at play.

I like to share my experience with SSD . I have an early 2011 MBP / 15 inch . OS 10.13.6. As a main drive I upgraded with Crucial MX500 ( 500GB) , I had no problem with that Upgrade , it has been 3 months now the drive run smooth at 37 dgr Celcius. Then a month ago I decided to a new upgrade , removing the super-drive and replacing it with an M.2 drive, I run one in my Asus and was quite happy with it . I got a Caddy (OWC ) to support the SSD and an adapter SSD M.2 SATA > SSD 2.5" SATA and I choose a Icy Dock EZConvert MB703M2P-B because I liked the fact that the top could be left open and have enough room to put a ICY BOX heat sink. For SSD I choose the Samsung 860 EVO M.2 ...
Well I never could make the drive work properly, It just wouldn't hold formatting, S soon I turn off my MBP for ther night , the morning after after login I got a warning that a drive was found and needed to be initialize , the APFS volume and partition gone ..! . I got it from amazon ,so I replaced the first one as I thought maybe I got a drive that had a problem, but got the very same problem's with the second 860 EVO M.2.
Finally I got a Adata ASU800NS38-512GT-C , and it has been running great for 1 week now at 25 drg Cel, those Adata's seem to run cooler ( 25 dg been I think the very minimum for those M.2 ) than most. Hope it may help someone in the future ...
PS: you don't mention Adata in your article but for MBP I think they can be a great Option , SATA or NVMe ...

Hi i just bought the following ssd, Corsair MP600 (1000GB, M.2 2280). It's the same already in my PC. Is this not possible to be used as additional storage? How do I attach it?

I put the 240G Kingston in my nine year old Acer laptop. I did the windows 10 upgrade before I replaced the HD and it took forever just to boot up. After replacing the HD with the ssd it boots very fast. I was so impressed that I put another one in my homebrew budget desktop. In the 6 months since then the price has gone from $31 to $37. A few days ago I put 500g silicon-power m.2 nvme in my dell inspiron 5770. The boot up is at least 5x faster. The ssd had a lot of good reviews and the price was right.

They say Kingston A400 is PURE FUCKING GARBAGE. It has an error know an SATAFIRM S11. I'm not buying this one. No, thanks.

LOL, greedy program/os companies/developers will soon find a way to use every kilobyte of ssd's until they're no longer a luxury; but a necessity. Looking back at my first DOS build with (what was then) a momouth 150MB 5.25" hard drive, two floppies, optical hadn't been developed yet, i've been watching this constant push to upgrade for 30+ years.

I bought 120gb ssd for the OS.... now i regret that after windows 10 updates!
