State schools don't provide the level of education we want. Rather than hating on private schools i think y'all should focus on how to better the education in state schools

Abolishing private schools will only make public school problems worse. It would cause even more crowding and would also result in millions of more kids to fund. If you think about it, private schools are basically just free school funding. We simply just don't have enough teachers, funding, or space to abolish private schools. Not to mention the severe culture schock in a lot of kids when they move to public schools and when public school children suddenly have an explosion in private schoolers.

If someone wants to spend their money on a private school education for their children. It’s their choice on how they want to spend their money. They need to make state schools better, for starters they could use a better grade of concrete!!😇

How about phase out state schools and have all schools private, with the same system we use for universities (without it being a loan).

Every child gets a voucher in which they apply for a school and if they are accepted the government pays for the tuition.

The government says it will pay three bands of vouchers, bronze, silver, gold. Gold means more money for each child.

This system means the private companies cannot raise their cost of admitting a child as the government just won’t pay it, so their cost is fixed at what the government will pay, otherwise they get nothing.

Most importantly however we need to move away from the Prussian educational system and look towards Finland and their system

There is not a single chance that they would abolish private schools, the English educational system cannot afford it. They will not suppress the elite, they would chase it to private schools in Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands or France.

Why are there so deep divisions in Britain when it comes to education? Can’t you just finance and made changes in state schools so private ones wouldn’t be needed? Scandinavians have it for free. Poles have it. Baltic States have it and they put a lot less money into education than Britain. Britain is behind less economically thriving countries when it comes to the results of Pisa tests.

Many years ago I went to private schools where I didn't do very well because I was "different". However, having an inventive mind which could be put to better use, I recently went back to Uni, studied and worked right through the pandemic as a VERY mature student and recently graduated with Honours in Product Design. This time the priviledge was not provided by my parents, impoverished (by fees), but the fact of being a repatriated Brit and able to access Student Finance Loans. The staff and teachers' unions were constantly on strike due to poor wages and zero contracts. Education in the UK needs a total reboot. How? I don't know ... but Old Etonians should definitely be prohibited from making that decision!

There is elite in all societies and there are several type of elitist that have their own power.
If they didn't exist, the dysfunctional society will actually give that privilege to a group of people to create and maintain order.
Look at the English Civil War where they executed their King then only to appoint another person to act as a king and then reestablished the Monarch later through executed kings son.
Or
The French Revolution where the middle class who took power brutally became the elitist later.

Elitism is a phenomena, it's more about how do you curb people's nature so not to abuse power/ authority and why should they?

fins haven't abolished private schools if you look it up. Of course objective factual reporting would have actually made this such an interesting debate. Tax revenue is a really interesting point given that 100% of people going to private schools are still paying for the state schools which they are not attending through tax. Why not add some balance and make this into a report with some use?

Private schools provide a better education, that is why there are more privately educated people in top jobs. By abolishing private schools we would be disadvantaging more pupils.

I work in a private school that is one of the biggest employers in the area. The majority of staff are sending their kids to state school. The higher rate tax payers who send their kids to private school are already contributing more towards the state system, even though they don't use it! Jobs in private schools are supporting families whose kids are in the state sector. Of course, it would be typical of Labour to destroy jobs like this.

We should make all school attendance as voluntary as college to make sure they're filled with students who attend because they care about the topic matter, not because they'll get punished if they don't attend. That way, rude teachers would get no students and can pack their bags. Schools would be forced to make sure they have the most interesting courses and the most helpful staff to stay in business.
