I only have one slot for NVMe. Right now it’s occupied with a shitty SSD from the pre built manufacturer (benchmarked it at 1k mgps..) and bought a Samsung 990 pro to replace it. But current shitty SSD has my OS on it. Is moving the OS from the old SSD to my upgrade an easy process?

Im im the midst of updgrading to a 2TB 970 evo plus, its my first nvme ever. My x570m pro4 has 2 hyper m.2 one under heat sink behind gpu (CPU LANE) and one just under gpu slot(SB LANE).

I cant get my mobo OR WIN10 to recognize my new m.2 in either one m.2_1 or m.2_2.. disk management doesnt see it to add a letter etc. I even unplugged all SATA drives and only had M.2 and my USB Flash with Win10 install.

When i goto my BIOS the only options i can see under sotrage configs are all of my different SATA plugs set to Auto. Im about to my wits end and laat resort is a bios update, but im terrified to brick my machine.

My motherboard has only 1 heatsink for nvme but it has 2 slots. Is it okay to use the slot without heatsink?

1) Once you've secured your shiny new Gen 4 or 5 SSD into your PC, you then think "Fantastic! Now I'll install windows on this and look forward to crazy speeds." And so it is said, and so you do...only to immediately discover that the 'crazy speeds' are very, very much.....not as advertised. In fact, this drive isn't noticeably faster that an 'ancient' SATA SSD.
--> Welcome to the shocking stagnation of 4k speeds over the years.

2) After that bombshell, you decide to turn the second Gen 4/5 NVME SSD you purchased into a data drive, and proceed to write several hundred GB of data onto the fancy new toy. BUT, well before the end of the write process you find that the speed has dropped to shockingly low speeds (in many cases this is much, much slower than a fast HDD(!!!)).

I bought new pc setup and after 1 month my 500gb crucial p3 nvme m.2 stopped working. I was playing valorant suddenly black screen appears then pc re-start and shows bios page. I saw in bios > storage > pci ssd - ( blank ) the size is not showing its blank there. What is the reason??

I also tried in another port didn't worked also the nvme got super hot in 30 seconds like i am using it from hours.

I’ve put in my nvme and it’s not coming up at all, it comes up if I replace my old nvme which then I can’t boot up normally without reinstalling windows but if it’s in my 2nd slot would you happen to know the issue?

So i bought a used z390 gigabyte aorus (pro?) Plus i7 9700k, So the pc cancels to boot if i put it in the second slot below first pcie lane, so i found on tomsforum that windows needs to be installed on the first slot and can than be transferred to second slot but my pc still does not boot or post it lights up on vga but its not a video problem, in the first slot its longer it works gpu works sata ssd works all works, nvme onky in second slot no sata no gpu it does nothing

Im planning to add another ssd, i have a 970 pro and i want to add 990 pro as another one. Can i keep the 990 in any slot or it has to be the top slot for max performance? Also i have to copy all system and games on to the 990 from the 970 right?

A friend tell me how to install several M.2 disks on the motherboard so that they are immediately recognized. I'd like to mount directly by plugging them into the motherboard instead of dropping them onto my PC. And what to do if the disk is not recognized, I can’t format it, there is the necessary information!

Sadly, most CPU have lowered their number of PCIe Lanes to 20. That gives us 8 to 16 lanes for GPU and a few left over for NVMe's.

Is it okay to use nvme as secondary storage?

If you install on the top slot, doesn't your 16x PCIe slot revert to 8x?

So mine doesn't say anything on Armoury crate just has 3 lines
