Arma 3 can actually be very realistic if you mod it. The base game has limitations but with only a few mods now as a medic you must measure bpm, bp, airway intake, blood types, medicine, overdoses, broken bones, different types of wounds and so fourth.

I know I'm late to the party,, but a few points from me would be..

First, your hmmwv comment about placement in the convoy wouldn't fly in country for 2 reasons. 1. The mraps are better armored and are also equally armed, so they would definitely be leading especiallywhen they like to set the actual charge offset about 15-20m in front of the pressure plate so that they hit the second vehicle in the convoy.

Also, first vic should have a mineroller in case they didn't offset, but depending on when this video was made, a mineroller mrap might not have been available in the game.

2, there shouldn't have been hmmwvs at all, we had fully stopped using them on patrol at the latest in 2012.

Now, this video is fairly garbage for a realism depiction of what arma can do. This looks like it is all computer controlled soldiers. A video of a mission being ran and executed by actual milsim players looks completely different to this.

It looks like the video creator might not have had any real experience in what we did in country. I say this because you were correct on the subpar tactics used and placement of the forces in the video and it all felt very Hollywood level of military understanding. Author had a good try though.

Id say give a better video a try, one where you can see the teamwork and communication being used, where you can see the ace modification for the game in play. it adds more realistic medical and ballistics mechanics to the game (like tourniquets, quikclot, saline, temperature, barometrics, etc.)

Lastly, keep doing what you're doing brother.

To be fair, what you saw is AI vs AI. When I played Arma 3 in multiplayer, (Players vs Players) It would of been so much different. You probably would of seen each unit in cover suppressing eachother. Non the less still interesting.

That's an Old Arma 2 map, played on it many an hour, trying to take or hold that town. A lot of bots used here, real players are more sneaky and take cover. Nice video.

Just to note, this is a cinematic, so it is a bunch of probably civilian players playing to make a video with no simulation at all put into it. If you want to see realism in arma 3, you can check out Arma 3 Milsim operations, it's better than those cinematics...

I used to do real well on the old Operation Flashpoint earlier version of these games. They were really fun to play. I do have a copy of Arma Gold, and Arma 2.

I wouldn't be using the standing position with no cover to fire my weapon. I would find cover and use the prone or kneeling position, behind the cover. I would also make use of grenades or a grenade launcher.

This has got to be one of my favorite videos because I play arma 3 a LOT

most likely the reason there was no air support is because in Arma 3 flying is actually difficult because they tried to make it realistic, so pilots that are good at attacking are few and far between. meaning these people probably didnt have one available when they were doing this.

you're watching a prescripted mission that has mostly AI soldiers fighting AI soldiers with an old version of the game that uses a very poor AI calculation. I highly recommend you do this again with an updated version of the game, and or watch a scenario of live people playing this game.
