For anyone watching and need pads as much as keys, the pads on the Alesis V25 are VERY hit or miss. Some people report that the pads trigger rapidly on a single press and this was my experience too. One tap and I'd get a glitch of 2-4 taps making them totally unusable. Genuinely terrible pads and for that reason would never recommend that alesis to anyone. My expereince with it was attrocious.

MIDI keyboards are one of those things that you never really get to demo in the store, especially budget ones. This video saves me a lot of money. Not really, since I'll be buying 2 of these, but I didn't have to keep buying, hating, and replacing them.

I was gifted an Axiom25 m-Audio midi but haven't been able to use it yet. Any thoughts on this midi keyboard? Is it a good 1?

It didn’t come up, but can these work with an iPad and what software? May be a dumb question but I do want to be able to do things like loop and make backtrack ground tracks for my guitar practice. Also, I thought by having a keyboard and seeing how chords are formed on a piano and guitar, it might help me learn. I already have an iPad Pro.

It was my first midi keyboard I ever owned, my dad got it for me when I was, what... 14? 15?

I needed a keyboard controller on my desk for writing music (mostly play guitar). I got the Alesis V25. I think I chose correctly.

Such a great video. LOVED the blind test! You sold me on the Arturia. I've been agonizing between that one and the Akai!

I have a K2000(61), K2600(88) MC505, a Yamaha AN1x(61) and a KeyLab MKII 49 by Arturia and I love it. It's may favorite controller. It came with their analog lab 4 & 5 software synths and a bank of sweet sampled pianos. So jamin right out the box with thousands of sounds. More or less, I mean DLs/installs but yeah, it was 489 from sweetwater when I got it last yr but you can grab just the board off amazon for like 200. Totally worth IMO very well made IMO. I just wish I got more keys. 49 is great for PC stuffs but more is better in this case lol

The novation does have a pitch and modulation function, it's controlled with a touch strip.

I though the first one was Akai mpk mini mk 3

I had a chance to try some of those and of those the Arturia minilab feels nicest

disclamer for the AKAI. it is super fragile, I dropped mine off of my couch (3 feet off the ground) and it broke and is now unusable. if you're not super careful with your equipment do not go with the AKAI

Just got the Arturia as my first MIDI-keyboard and I'm getting more and more convinced of it being the best choice!

This is a nearly 3 year old review of these keyboards. Since then the Novation Launchkey Mini Mk3 has added pitch and modulation touchstrips, a sustain peddle connector and the knobs are taller. The black keys are also no longer a funny shape but are much nicer. Quite an improvement over mk2. I'm sure the other keyboards have all had improvements. Many people like the Novation Launchkey due to its excellent Ableton Live integration. But it does depend what you want to get out of the keyboard.

And what about NI Komplete Kontrol M32?

This was super helpful. I love the plain and simple decision at the end. A lot of people we’ll say “well the best one depends on what you’ll do with it” and yeah, obviously. But it’s nice to get a straight up answer on which one is your personal favorite.

I just started with a Alesis V49 and in my Opinion it´s worth the Price...
I know there are a lot better out there but yeah ... everyone needs to start somewhere ^^

Since i see some pictures of the Studio of "Disclosure", i´m a bit "hiped" of the Alesis Andromeda :D
Do you have any experience with the Andromeda ? Ever tried it and can say something about it ? :)

Four years ago when i was highschool I bought the Akai. I bought the Akai simply because it was what Amazon recommended, but now I wish I went for the Alesis instead.
