Even for productivity, I willl consider a 8700k for the price specs performance...

can you lock some of the cores of the i9? and put load on specific cores? that way other cores can be prioritiez and faster clock speeds plus less thermals.. im trying to upgrade my i7-8700(nonK) in 2021. Reasonm for upgrading Need faster single core cpu and same socket no need trouble to fresh install and trouble of selling-off the the whole cpu. I also just got a 3080Ti so cpu upgrade could help with maybe the minor bottleneck.. is this a good move?

In 2020 i wonder if i should get an i9 7900X or I9 9900X or 10900X. My heart beats for the 7900X or 7920X. It has a smaller L3 cache which explains the lower TDP and the higher oc potential. But something don´t stop saying2 get the 7920X or 7900X, the cheapest 79XX X you should get. Why do i see the 7900X in such an emotional way?

So it doesn’t seem like the 9900k is going to run xplane 11 any better than my current 8700k @5ghz. I’m trying to improve things for better performance with “maximum objects” anyone have any advice or first hand experience?

I run a 9900k overclocked to 5.0 , temps hardly go above 70c on aida64. Running a H150i pro cooling. At 5.2 it gets closet to 75-80c so I left it at 5. Runs good and cool

most motherboards that can handle a 8700k , can't handle a memory speed higher then 4x8 GB 3000mhz though
bought myself a z390 so i could get memory speeds of 2x16 GB 4500mhz
no fps benefit of course , but games feel so much smoother while looking around and turning in 1st person modes
it's just what i needed , every year i can feel games getting harder and harder to get to run nice and smooth , with the best hardware i can find
still fiddling with graphic settings in this day and age , with a 2080ti oc and a 8700k 4.9ghz so the temps stay under 65c what i throw at it ,
on 1 simple kraken x41 with 1x Aerocool Dead Silence 14cm fan

And that's why Intel is hurting across the board by not being able to go to 7nm....heat. And another reason why they don't include good air coolers even though they cost more.

what alot of uneducated "enthusiast" new to pc building who don't use it for anything outside of video games, is that even at 5GHZ the 9900K just matches the 8700K in 95% of use cases. In Gaming the are the same in 99% of cases at 5GHZ! Outside of Gaming or even most multi-threaded programs on the professional side its not worth the extra $100-135. You're better off using that money for better B-Die memory with good timings or NVME/M.2 Drives or a nice AIO, which will actually help you have better and more stable clock speeds.

I have the i7 8700K at 5GHz 1.250v with a ZALMAN CNPS 9900MAX cooler, rated to 300watts. I have nothing against using liquid but a premium air cooler is a viable option. I seen a double tower Assassin III DEEPCOOL monster air cooler that can handle the 9900K at 5GHz.

Now the 9900K is $110 more than an 8700K. I think the 9900K is the better buy. Especially if you want an all around powerhouse system that games very well and has high multi-thread performance. If gaming on less than a 2080 Ti is your only need than sure pass on the 9900K.

Which is better for gaming and streaming? 9700k has no hyperthreading. Please no recommandations for AMD.
