Thanks a lot for all the interesting comments! I apologize for not having mentioned stuff like the Palace of the Dead as a leveling alternative, but that's mainly because I haven't engaged with that myself really. I'm glad to see most comments and discussions are very civilized too, I'm pretty humbled this video has been performing so well too haha, thanks everyone :)
ОтветитьCustomisation on mmo is an illusion of choice, I'm pretty sure WoW has meta build that everyone use
Ответитьff14 just wow but in anime
Ответитьmy experience with the two:
I typically play games with my brother and when we tried to play final fantasy together, we found there to be an insane amount of scenarios and stuff that you are forced to solo. that really kills the multiplayer leveling experience for us
world of warcraft on the other hand doesnt have anything in the way of grouping up except for certain class/race starting areas that prevent you from grouping for the first few levels
basically what im saying is, if you are a dev making a multiplayer game PLEASE make the multiplayer actually let you play with multiple players
Once you play FF XIV it’s not possible to go back on WoW
ОтветитьIn 14 you can tweak your gear by melding materia to it. As a BLM my goal was to rush my casts so I could fit more spells into one rotation. Other BLMs would go for more power so on.
ОтветитьHow dare you not like Fiesta online, the jellybeans are disappointed :P
ОтветитьFF14 story is what made me quit. The worst beginning and middle of any story ever written makes the story a bad one.
ОтветитьI’d say ffxiv is better than dragon flight, but when wow is at its peak such a wrath of the lich king or mists of pandaria it’s better than ffxiv.
ОтветитьLate to the video, but as someone who played WoW since the start of TBC and played and loves Warcraft, I can say that I have now completely given up WoW in favor of FFXIV. I love lore, but the lore in WoW has become so bad and doesn’t make sense, in FFXIV even glamour and the way it works is somewhat lore consistent and throughout the game you see it used in different ways. I also raided mythic (in a more casual way), and I always disliked the fact that I need to look at all the guides, have all the addons and WeakAura’s set up. FFXIV showed me that I can do difficult and amazing raids, without going through all the extra steps and having these extra things installed. It is just so much better in my opinion and makes it easier for those who want to give harder content a try to actually try it. Now, on the topic of addons, I do think UI addons are fun and I think addons in general should be optional and not required (I know they are not required, but they basically are for high end content in WoW).
ОтветитьOn the topic of the community, yea, I've always found it incredibly welcoming. Personally, I started the game to be able to tease a friend about their NPC crush, and ended up being the clown as the story immediately snagged all of my attention and absorbed me. I was also absolutely and utterly TERRIFIED of people. Social anxiety and all that. I was bad to the point that I begged said friend to do the first required dungeon with me, which ended up with her plowing through with an overleveled character. When I got the courage to do dungeons standard with other people... FFXIV helped my social anxiety so much. I'm still far more of a solo player, but I'm also happy to interact with other players and help new players and just fuck around. It really is great.
ОтветитьGreat video and mixing rhe music in from the games made for nice background listening while i work.
I wanna add in my own thoughts to this. I played wow for a long time from wrath to shadowlands, roughly 10 years. And i joined ffxiv same time as you. During the big wow exodus and asmongold times.
There are few things i miss from wow. One of the biggest is the transmog system. It is so incredibly janky in comparison in ffxiv. The auto cataloguing just blows out the glamour system. However the looks of ffxiv i enjoy much more. The race diversity of wow i miss as well. I wouldnt narrow it down as simple as human, short human, tall human like you and many others do. But i definitely miss the variety. And i miss the feel of the classes. They had a flow to their combat that felt more rewarding to me. Housing is a weird thing. I hate how wow handled it with garrisons, but at least everybody was able to get one. In ffxiv the options are so vast its great and people have made amazong homes. But it is so hard to get a house its ridiculous.
Almost everything else i dont miss or like better in ffxiv. Obviously sinking 10 years in a game leaves me missing it so i never assume ill be gone for good.
The community of both games ive come across toxic people. Biggest difference is in wow toxic negativity and ffxiv toxic positivity. Though negative encounters were much much more common in wow.
I feel ffxiv is my main mmo now. Ill try wow again one day, i hear dragonflight is actually good so maybe at the end of its lifespan ill try it. But i dont feel any big pull to wow anymore, its a weird feeling.
Imagine, being a young kid trying to start a new adventure in WOW... ALL the stuff you HAVE to get to even be considered to be accepted into a raiding guild... Not to mention, trying to get people to give a shit about you, rather than kicking you the instant you say "Hello, I'm new here!" What? You don't have DBM with the current raid info patched into it? What, you don't have a mod that tells you what your allies cooldown timers are at? What!? You don't have a mod that lets you clean up your UI so you can see the boss arena better? Git gud n00b!
ОтветитьOn the ffxiv racial thing - It’s also due to Japan having a thing against playing as “monstrous” or “inhuman-looking” characters, while Western fantasy has more embraced the idea of playable beast races, demons, etc.
ОтветитьWoW refugee here. Been playing FF14 for about a year now. It’s ridiculously amazing and me and my friend are obsessed. Love it so much.
ОтветитьNot talking about plugins?
ОтветитьIt can get boring in an expansion if you don't really like a job, but it doesn't "Get boring by the end" simply because the rotation is more or less the same in all end game content with minor variations due to mechanics/group comp
but like the whole thing is the mechanics of the fights themselves are the gameplay, whatever you're doing with that job it is the way you interface with the mechanics of fights, rather than with WoW you may have more buttons to push but you're doing all of hte mechanics by listening to an audio call out from an addon that tells you what to do and shows you where to go on your screen lmao
The lack of customization is something people can dislike for sure, but without having actually played a job in any of the content that has any degree of difficulty (this can even be story trials, as there's plenty you can still wipe on if you don't do mechanics regardless of level) it's really just a moot point to try and make when you say "it probably gets boring because I don't even know what you'd do"
I really liked wows customization for a long time but the ff14 content and experience with different jobs is such a vastly superior experience that it's not even close
Wow retail is trash. Its made for kids now. Any adults that play it should really grow up
ОтветитьI don't get how wow's glam system is better, you can tie your glamour to your classes when switching and bind the glams to macros which you can then use to create transformations by mixing emotes...
It's only limiting factors are being in safe zones and having a limited capacity, but I've personally never hit the cap and they're still working on expanding it
Maybe you mentioned this but the benefits for the classes in FFXIV having linear progression is better designed fights, everything in FFXIV is like a puzzle piece and because of that they can design fights around these classes
ОтветитьYou forgot the ultimate Raids in FF
ОтветитьAdding to the comment where you mentioned that side content wraps back around to MSQ in FFXIV -- You will often get special dialogue for having done previous optional content or having unlocked/maxed classes whenever it's relevant.
ОтветитьI enjoyed your casual dumbass opinions ty
ОтветитьI’ll give a sub just bc this was a solid video but also because I laughed at the very beginning “hello gamers *boom*”
ОтветитьThe old ffxiv had a lot of customization. If you notice the old gear just says desciple of war instead of a specific job and there are even shields with int and mind on them to buff magic and are intended for casters. You could even cross class in the olf ffxiv and use skills from a completely different job as long as you leveled it up high enough to unlock the skill. There was even elemental affinities and your old patron diety actuallly contributed to this effect. But i think it was all to complicated for most people and so they scrubbed it all. And then there was a bunch of hidden effect based around item, equipment, and skills an example would be since we talked about shields earlier they were directional and if an enemy was behind you then you couldnt block the attack also since a shield is a physical attribute it couldn't block magic damage. Finally the world was once continuous without loading screens, there was even a spot with a mini dungeon (not instanced just an underground maze with a named monster in it) you had to travel through to get between Ulda and Grid but this was scrubbed so they could stick it on ps3 console when they did ARR launch. I bet theycould bring it back since the ps4 and 5 should be powerful enough to handle it but who knows.
ОтветитьCommunity is a big factor I only played wow for a year but the community was not at all helpful or patient towards new players. But if your a sprout in final fantasy then you are basically cared for and protected 😂 and I love thay
ОтветитьI actually miss when the normal raids had trash mobs in FFXIV, purely because they always had cool set pieces that came with them, and they were never all that long. "You're here for the boss fight, but before that, check out this rail grinding sequence"
ОтветитьJust wanna add this in about the friendliness of the FFxiv community.
It's because we HAVE to. We can get reported for saying anything negative/mean to other players. We don't wanna lose our accounts so we stay nice LOL
However, as a female viera player, the community can also be .... overly friendly. Random players will whisper you the nastiest nsfw stuff LMAO I get at least 2 of these every month.
i swear you sound belgian and i love it
ОтветитьYou should try guild wars 2 it’s a good game for people who like to play alone and if you want to join in razor guilds things like that and there’s no monthly fee, which is the best part honestly
ОтветитьI agree and disagree with your glamour opinion, yes, the fact that we have a limited amount of slots on gear appearance saves sucks, I don't really mind glam prisms since it removes the need for a NPC to do it for you that WoW has, sure, if you have like 20k gold or something, you can get the mount for it, but if you are close to a aetheryte in 14, you can use a glam plate wherever and whenever. Which isn't too bad in my humble opinion. But where 14 just blasts WoW out of the water is the gear appearances, not only are they dope as fuck and focus less on recolors (yes there are a few recolors, but those are rare once you get to Heavensward and beyond), and also the fact that mixing and matching different sets is easier because you can actually dye your armor to match, whereas in WoW, where there are like 50 different shades of red, and you got a set and you think that hood looks particularly awesome with that red robe... but the hood is just off in color by a bit, that shit gets SOOOOO annoying.
ОтветитьI came back to WoW in WoD. I played every expansion for at most 3 months. I simply like the leveling, maybe doing some professions, doing alts. I don't like M+, or Raids, or really anything that requires a set schedule and big time investment, meaning I didn't really do WoW's endgame. PvP is occasionally fun but sometimes the class/spec you want to play is just ass or a druid can one-shot you at the beginning of the arena. I leveled every class to 50 in the Shadowlands prepatch, with the expectation that it'll be alt-friendly. I never got any of my alts up because of the insane time investment required. I just quit after doing Normal CN a few times in 9.0. And I never bought DF or bothered with WoW since then really.
ОтветитьAyyye if you want some motivation, you get the amaro mount when everything hits 80.
ОтветитьI play dragoon for a good 6 years. o.o
I still main it.
Xeno does not seem like a toxic ffxiv player btw, and supports new players from what i understand. You did him a bit dirty there mate.
ОтветитьWoW’s story made absolutely 0 sense to me. I actually dropped the game after about 3 weeks because I had no fcking idea where I was supposed to go or what I was supposed to do.
ОтветитьGearing wise i like ffxiv system. You get to choose which part to get by farming tomestones .
ОтветитьIn short FF14 is fantastic and WOW has always been and always will be utter trash
ОтветитьI notaced you are missing some opportunities with your ff hotbar, did you know you can put EVERYTHING on your bar, custom macros and even hot swap jobs using the bar with no menu.
Also your mount can be trained to fight wih you. As a tank my chocobo makes a great healer
Wow fighting is a brawl, 14 is a dance where you need to know the right moves
ОтветитьSomething getting boring is subjective. I have at least 14 characters in FF14 despite only needing 1. Some from an old server I left, some to play with friends or join FC's to help out, and some on the new server I moved to. At least 7 of those characters main a healer. My old main has all four healers at least into EW content with two being almost 90 and 1 being 90. New main is 90 Sage. I have a 90 Sage alt. A White Mage alt off plays Sage and is almost 80 on both, getting through SB currently. I'm leveling White Mage with my partner to teach him how to heal so we're duo white mages. It doesn't get boring, I enjoy the healer role so it's where I'm happy and comfortable. On my new main I started out Arcanist, and as soon as we got through level 20 MSQ (we were way overleveled at that point due to Exp boost on new server) I got SCH and played SCH until I could unlock Sage and I've played Sage on that character since, with a few sassy moments of having to be Summoner for raids with my alt's FC/community because most of us that community play healers, too. XD If you enjoy the visuals, and you enjoy the role, boredom takes longer to set in, for me and those around me at least. I could play nothing but Sage, 15 hours a day, 7 days a week, and not get bored or tired of it. I love the job, it's so much fun for me.
Also, all of the thumbnails you showed of that person complaining, I watched one of his videos about Paladin and the new Alliance raid where he was complaining about gear and I didn't finish it because he's an idiot that doesn't know alliance raids are meant for catch up, not main gear, that's what 8 man content is for. 24 man content is for people that left and are getting back into the game to get caught up while they work on tome gear, and alt jobs. I shut the video off after a few minutes because he A) can't even figure out simple mechanics and blamed it on everyone/everything else like a freaking child, and B) is just an overall, uninformed, absolute idiot. I wouldn't take anything he says with any value.
for a casual player.. u sure know and play alot....
Ответитьthe biggest difference, is that Square Enix respect your time and have systems that are modern, meanwhile Blizzard spit in your face and don't give a shit about your feelings, and they would rather you play the game all day everyday just to experience another class at max level gameplay
ОтветитьWhen I left WoW in Legion, you could use the same gear for both DPS and Tanking. Didn't they had all stats but just didn't show on the specific build until you changed to it? Sure, for end game you need to have two sets, but in general not really. If they changed that it sucks.
ОтветитьThe pugs in wow are dysfunctional, and in general the community was toxic. I tried it for 6 weeks and went back to ff14.
ОтветитьLike the video but with leveling you forgot the beast tribe or tribal daily quest, FC leveling boost and and leveling earrings that is given to players for preorder of expansion.
Ответить
