The Beliefs And Goals Of Each Chaos Space Marine Legion. | Warhammer 40K Lore

Alpha Legion continues to be my favorite Space Marine legion period, even with their mysteries being cleared. Respecting anyone with useful knowledge and expertise, the whole council of warbands and the mythos about Alpharius and Omegon, all of those add up to a surprisingly rich faction.

This is a quick question for anyone who knows more lore then me (which is most), but does Alpha legion have any xenos members? Like Aeldari, Orks, T'au, whatever? It would make sense, seeing as they probably don't stop at infiltrating human societies

Abaddon can delude himself all he wants, he is as much of a pawn to Chaos as any other Chaos Astartes, if not far more. The minute the Anathema is no more, the Four will swell in power like never before, and if he thinks he is resisting their will now (which I'm pretty sure he only believes is doing) there will be no opposing them once Terra gets ripped apart by the Warp and its influence finally spreads to all the Galaxy. He's as much of a fool as his father was; worse, he thinks himself smart and in control, just as Horus did, and thinks he is in any way different when he's exactly the same, only smaller in every aspect, and what his father achieved in seven years is taking him over nine millennia. The saddest part is that, in the end, only Lorgar will obtain the outcome he wanted

I like the idea that one of the Alpha Legion Primarchs just controlling things from the sidelines to strengthen the Imperium. Guy could purposely be acrewing his legion, so them thinking they lost whatever goal just makes another level of "don't let the left hand know what the right hand is doing!"

You really sold me on the alpha Legion. Their new lore seems cooler than before.

The Idea of a legion that operates as disjointed insurgency cells appeals to me.

Also they are correct in the assessment that if the Imperium was destroyed, humanity might be better off for it.

I am new to reading Warhammer books and I randomly saw Harrowmaster at a game shop and started reading it. This video helped me a ton with making sense of the book. Does anyone have a recommendation for a series that is earlier in the timeline? Before the Indominus Crusade?

I don't fully agree with the death guard and nurgle part. Nurgle is the God of life and death. They aim to spread what they view as a gift of life and renewal. This is why they don't feel hatred towards their enemies, they simply feel like they are misguided

The section with the alpha legion honestly got me more interested in them, especially with the fact that compared to every other traitor legion, they've legit lived through the whole 10k years of war, and the speech from the hopeful harrow master legit makes sense, and legit makes me wanna root for them to try and revive humanity through the sense of burning the idea of the imperium to ashes, for sure gonna pick up that book and give it a read.

Yes, it is a source of human drive and might, but it is as much a setback and danger to our existence. RL history has shown this again and again.
Some good too, but lots of war and blood, famine, rape, excitement for the wrong way, and subterfuge....lots of subterfuge, no doubt.

Edit: This of course applies to the Imperium of 40k AD as well, so it can be argued well that Chaos is not wrong entirely.

I've always been a bit confused about the Iron Warriors. Back in 3rd ed, they hated daemons and couldn't field them with minor exceptions. Now they're built all around machines infused with daemons. I don't know what suits them best, or whether to lean into it being yet another schism.

The day they make Chaos Tau is the day I give up on Warhammer

Not trying to nitpick but I thought the purge was separate from the death guard. They both a dedicated to nurgle but the purge are renegade successors to an unknown loyalist line versus a warband of mortarion.

When a member of chaos undivided, since chaos spends most of it's time warring against itself, what do the word bearers do when...say, tzeetch is warring with nurgle? Do they pick a side? If they do nothing, aren't they going against the wishes of 2 gods? Do they ever think about this or does it call their belief structure into question?
