Visiting and discovering the historic buildings that can be found in this town that Edward 1st of England built for his subjects as he attempted to colonise Gwynedd after it's conquest. The town walls and castle are part of the UNESCO world heritage site that includes Caernarfon, Beaumaris and Harlech which were all part of Edward 1st infamous "ring of steel" that he built to supress and control the native Welsh population after his conquest; the scale and size of the projects are a good indication of the respect he had for the native Welsh he was suppressing. The vast cost of the building work almost bankrupted the King.
