When Jeff Lynne agreed to do music for this movie, half of his band ELO walked out. I don't know why because his music was one of the best things about the film. The other two things were ONJ's performances, and Seeing Gene Kelly's smooth moves one last time.
I'm a big fan of ELO, and having Olivia sing one of Jeff's songs is a real bonus. 😁

Jeff Lynne needs to get an award for being the most talented SOB in history. And f*ck you if you don't agree.

I remember 2 things from this. The music, and "I'm sticking to this place 'till hell freezes over."

Xanadu the movie mesmerized me, as a gawky teenager still in high school in 1980. While the movie did not do well, it was a spectacular showcase and in its magical 1980's way, reminded me of what it was like to be 16 years old again. God I miss it. And I miss both Gene Kelly and Olivia.

At the dawn of home theater, we used this (on Beta) as a demonstration for early large screen television and rudimentary surround processing. I never got tired of it. It was that or "Apocalypse Now" and Michael Nesmith" "Elephant Parts" for superior hifi soundtracks in 1980, and you couldn't use those with everyone
