i’m making one of these right now because of this video!

i bought some flanged 3/8” ID bearings for like..4.50 each. i got a 3/8” 2’ rod for 8 bucks or so.

i got a collar with a set screw for 2.39 each and some extra thick 3/8” fender washers. i welded them together and drilled and countersunk holes into the side.

i have a lot of 3/4 ply and screws so this is a cheap and awesome project to make chess pieces. i have scrap maple and walnut to make the pieces and board out of.

i’m going to use calipers and a cardboard guide for duplicating.

I have seen this exact technique used in person, as well as other videos. It’s funny that the comments before were “bubba woodworking” or “stop being poor” but you add “Japanese” into the title and suddenly it’s brilliant and innovative. SMH.
