Only ones I regret buying is shrill, trashy horror shlock at premium boutique prices. ie: New York Ripper. Conversely, this looks like something I might enjoy.
ОтветитьI regretted only buying Avengers Infinity War because I never had a desire to rewatch it. Ended up selling my marvel movies.
Happy with my 15 or so criterions. Big hitters like Seven Samurai and Raging Bull.
It was directed by Takashi Murakami, a famous Japanese visual artist. I guess that’s why they picked it up?
ОтветитьI regret buying the black panther steelbook
ОтветитьMetascore of 34 on the IMDB. That’s pretty sorry!
ОтветитьCriterion pick rubbish like that over The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Inexplicable.
ОтветитьNice. I feel like some people are afraid to answer this question
ОтветитьI've never seen it.
ОтветитьFor me, it was Mulholland Drive 4K scan but their 1080P (before they released the UHD). It's a digitally noisy picture in certain spots and it's not the film grain.

ОтветитьYou simply bought it only because it was in the Criterion collection? That was a fool move. 🤦🏽♂️
ОтветитьI see paths of glory!! Love that one!!
ОтветитьBlow out is good too!
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьThe one Criterion film I own that I would not buy again is Dressed to Kill. I was a horror fan before I was a “cinema” fan, so when I first started looking at Criterion films and saw that there was a slasher by the director of Carrie, I bought it immediately. And it’s not bad, just very outdated in many ways and generally disappointing. If it was a dvd it would be a borderline keep that I’d be looking to replace, but since it’s a Criterion blu ray, it will likely remain in my library for the foreseeable future.
ОтветитьI hate Antichrist from Lars von Trier. Terrible movie
ОтветитьTakashi Murakami is a Goat of art. It definitely isn’t for everyone, but I loved it.
ОтветитьTalladega Nights started out good then it pissed me off how stupid it made us racing fans out to be. I f'king hate that movie!!!
ОтветитьDefinitely gonna take this warning, but also definitely gotta check this out
ОтветитьCriterion release a lot of artsy stuff that I wouldn't risk buying.
ОтветитьImagine playing Full price, same with Tiny furniture
ОтветитьI like the part when he describes why the movies bad
ОтветитьBro forgot Salo and The Night Porter exist.
ОтветитьJust watched the trailer...yikes 🤢
ОтветитьAt least you didn't buy Border Radio.
ОтветитьI gotta get this movie.
ОтветитьIt's not really a "movie" per se. It's more of an art piece. In the context of Takashi Murakami's oeuvre as a whole, it's actually pretty great. It's very deliberately a mashup of a million overused tropes. The kitsch is very intentional. It's incredibly successful at what it tries to do. Most of the reasons people say it's "bad" are almost like saying Blazing Saddles is a "bad" western. If you want it to be a John Wayne western, it's a terrible western. That's not what it's supposed to be though.
The release didn't really do it any favors by not providing more context. I would have done this with some additional Takashi Murakami art postcards or something. I feel like that would make it make a lot more sense overall.
I remember when they released that I went to Barnes and Noble and bought it impulsively. Ended up being the last of my money in my account and I had a huge overdraft fee. Then I got home and watched it and obviously really regretted it lol
ОтветитьTakeshi Murakami has like a bunch of films and none of them have good ratings. Actually impressive
Ответитьsickens me that shit like this is in the criterion collection but not Shaun of the Dead (2004)
ОтветитьI think you’re missing the point.
Criterions are not for the casual viewer. You don’t buy a Criterion Collection movie just to see if you’re gonna like it. You buy a Criterion Collection movie because you have watched that movie several times before and you’re looking to know and appreciate more about that movie. Just because you didn’t like doesn’t mean it’s a bad movie.
🤔... I have a couple of nominations.
The Mummy 2017
Lost In Space 1998
Project Gemini 2022
Do you have If.... 1968 by criterion
ОтветитьLmao !!! Me and my fiancée have a long running joke when we don’t know what to watch we say jellyfish eyes to one an another because it’s the worst movie we own .
