Sony A90J OLED TV Review (2021) – Long Awaited

$1398 at Walmart for 65 inch during Nov 2023

I just upgraded from my old Bravia 55A8 to a bigger 65A90J. Love the PQ on the Bravia. Way ahead of my LG and Samsung TVs used in other rooms. In 2023 - the price for this master series has dropped down to somewhat reasonable (boarder-lining on a good deal) range - I bought mine for roughly EURO 1550 which is less than half of what it was launched at 2 years ago. No regrets - works well with my PS5 too.

I personally have a 55 A80K.. I’m interested in upgrading to a 65 Master Series. I have this in consideration because at 2199 it’s most affordable Master series and I feel would still be better then 80K. 95K is 2599 at 65 also a consideration. Then Ofcourse the A95L right around the corner. Which I assume will be 3599 at launch for a 65. I wonder what you guys would consider of the 3? The 90J still very tempting option to me. Just wondering if it makes sense now or even 3-4 months from now?

How can i solve the Blue Looking Color on a white Screen? You said the Color Temp. is at 6700 K. How can i fix it to look normal?

Does this tv still hold up a year later? Because I’m thinking of purchasing it on Black Friday 2022?

There’s one thing I don’t get: how can you rate this TV as flicker free? By definition, OLED (like on OLED phone screens) can only regulate light by flickering at various speeds (as the OLED diodes themselves can only be on or off, not vary their light strength). Confused by this. Can someone clarify?

I just picked up the A90J and I love it!
However, when I turn the TV off, the screen is distorted like a funhouse mirror. Is this normal? The picture seems great when the TV is on..

Motion interpolation is an insult to filmmakers and artistic intent. You should have said what values and settings of motion smoothing to use without introducing significant soap opera effect.

Motion smoothing should not be a necessary evil! TV manufacturers deserve a lot more criticism for not being able to display films correctly, like plasmas did!

Is 4K 60Hz with Interpolation outside of Game Mode as well? Also, is 4K 120Hz outside of Game Mode? I wish you guys would be more specific and show all input lags for all resolutions and refresh rates.

Do you think the A90J or A95K will experience burn in sooner? How is the A95K better than the A90J besides the brighter/more colorful picture?

Why do the reviewers on this channel mispronounce "H"?

I hope I made the right decision. I got a 2016 Sony Bravia 4K UHD 65 inch. I ordered the AJ90 55 inch only for gaming. My Bravia shows a real clean picture in HDR! I never saw OLED in person. I just know a lot of people rave about it. I wonder if I’ll be able to tell a significant difference.

Does the Sony A90J have a setting to reduce the music and heighten the sound and clarity of the voices? You can watch any 1950s western and hear with perfect clarity every word spoken. Now movies have the music is so loud it drowns out the spoken words.

Im torn between this A90J and QN900A both 65 inch one is 4k and other is 8k but both are right now at practically the same price Sony at $3800 and samsung at $4000 so what is better picture and overall thoughts? PLEASE HELP!

Sony has full hdmi banswidth of 48Gbps. Why label it as HDMI 2.1 Class Bandwidth instead of HDMI 2.1 Full Bandwidth?

Really wanted a good test of coming “just out of black”. Again though just keeps saying OLEDs are great at blacks. We know that. What about just above black?

Just got the 83A90J a few days ago. Incredible PQ ! The PQ advantages of this TV become glaringly obvious in the largest size. If you’re in the market for a 55 inch, save some money and get the A80J or an LG. The larger you go the differences become blatantly apparent.

Hello ! why don't you test the panasonic TV, they are very good too ! like HZ2000, JZ2000, HZ1000 ! I have a "old" TV 4K HDR Led Panasonic TX50DX750F ! and this was a terrible TV in 2016.

What is the name of function that allows you to use internal speakers as central channel if you have AVR? This TV has it, but it's a tad pricey. I am looking for something that has this function at lower price. My desk is too high, and central speaker will obscure the TV, or I would have to put TV even higher, which is not optimal for my case. Thanks for help.

Where is the Reference?
Spectrometers and colorimeters gives false readings on todays LED light based TVs. (They only work with Natural light)
you cant rely on those results you need an real reference display

I’m debating if the A90J is a big enough upgrade from my Q8FN. I’m tossed I have no comparative data in terms of real world picture quality

I want this screen with qled brightness w vrr w gsync w 4 hdmi 2.1 w no needed firmware updates to obtain any currently available features from competitive tvs. It would take this unicorn tv to exist to pay premium pricing for me.
