One of the most hyped and failed project in recent years, I still remember the day when the whale leaped out. Over promised and under delivered, from commercial to enterprise, big fail, should just quit, it’s never gonna recover, brand image is permanently damaged, whoever is keeping this thing afloat should just resign.

RIP, with Apple vision, all that magic leap achieved can be condensed down to how much they inspired the apple devs, and it doesn’t look like that’s much 😂

we are in the hype phase. This thing is commercially a big failure. Meta Quest 2 has far more success with far more specs. Just think about it. There is a specific reason. People want to have fun. This is super niche and expensive. This is not the experience people want, there's no killer app.

WHAT can you even use this for?? Is it stand alone? Can you connect it to a PC? What??? I'm soo left wondering.

Certainly, the Magic Leap 2 is the perfect device for consuming 3D content about reality, providing a mixed viewing experience. However, it should not be overlooked that all content must be produced by specialists and programmers in environments like Unity or WebXR, which requires long periods of programming and 3D modeling.

Comment that I have already had several Magic Leap One Creator Edition, Size 1 and Size 2, and all of them have broken after a few months, specifically the problem is that when opening and closing the headband to place it on the head, the small connector and the flex cable that connects the magnetic sensor breaks and makes the glasses completely unusable, without the controller they cannot be used. A terrible design flaw in the flexgate style of the macbook pro. Let's hope this new version doesn't have the same problem.

Has magic leap ever thought of using this for a them park function, like getting with Disney to recreate a immersive world of being in Star Wars Death Star fighting storm troopers?

Magic Leap makes great commercials. But what does the product 'see'?

Magic Leap, I hope, instead of showing how the headset looks, it might be more useful to show what it CAN do! This commercial does not tell a single thing about its capabilities.

Unfortunately, this only points how so very far users are from engaging with AR on a practical level. Magic Leap started with the hardware first, which I believe it's been their bane. I love their brains though.

To me, this looks like a sophisticated Swiss Knife — which isn't particularly good at anything:

It’s not a great knife, scissor, clipper, screwdriver, plier, hook, etc..it's uncomfortable to look at, unyielding to carry around, expensive.

1. Platform
2. Community
3. Hardware
4. Scale

It's often weird to say, but Apple is a master at the correct syntax here. It seems Magic Leap believes they can do better by building backwards.

It’s cool when you have a vision for the future and you feel like you’re ready to build for it. But it’s pretty silly to refuse to build the present first. +6 years and counting..

How long until they realise how things are more likely to work?

2 issues the controller looks like the one from the old galaxy mobile vr headsets ,how will that be used, and those small lenses won't offer good field of view surely

This depends on what productivity & creativity software you can provide. Have you approached any 3rd party developers, to bring their software onto your medium? Will their software, once developed for magic leap 2, have the tools and capabilities to seamlessly allow full collaboration no matter the platform it collaborates with?

How will you capitalize on "immersiveness" Who needs it in the enterprise world and why is HOlolens 2 not good enough?

Better form factor here, but needs practical applications & no handheld. Just the specs & connectivity to a 📱 would suffice.

cool design. doesnt look ergonomic though, with that angle all weight is on the nose?
the controller looks awful, just use quest2 controllers or something similar...
and a single controller? thats just dumb...

Magic leap has proves one thing to me over and over again. They excel in making cool commercials and hyping their product, but they also over promise and under deliver across the board, in every aspect, every time.

Still without the vaporware Fiber Scanning Display tech that they hyped everyone about...

The lies about their wonderful, but sadly unworkable, tech has engulfed hundreds of millions of investor money, before pivoting to standard but subpart and disappointing AR tech when it became apparent they would never be able to deliver.

Magic Leap is a joke.

I wish the pursue of more creative applications will come back soon. As a screenwriter interested in exploring immersive storytelling I was very impressed by the demos of the ML One. Now the company clearly focuses on enterprise applications only.
