ОтветитьI live just up the road and can remember when the dairy was working . All the local milkmen used to collect from there to deliver to all the villages around there . Also back in the early 2000"s the sit was partly cleared to make way for housing and a Tesco ,But it was stopped due to it been to costly to clear the site .
ОтветитьWellbeck Brick Works is in Whitwell, they produced the bricks 🧱
ОтветитьWell that’s absolutely amazing. Well done!!
ОтветитьExcellent, early in you describe as a top of a chimney pot but they are salt glazed drainage pipes, common up to the late seventies, used to sell them when i started in Builders Merchanting back in 1979.
Credit to you as a young lad taking a great interest in history
Thanks

ОтветитьSo glad I stumbled across your channel a while back, brilliant vids, keep it up 👏🏼
ОтветитьThe adits had it.
ОтветитьInteresting stuff, thanks for sharing. You should have a look at Silkstone Fall colliery near Barnsley sometime.
ОтветитьLove this! I live just up the road and habs walked our beagle so many times down here without knowing the history! Thank you!!
ОтветитьThe pond has a sort of overflow that runs into it, you can see it in the winter, if you were daft enough the gate is semi ajar so you ‘could’ get in to see it but I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s got a sort of big pipe that runs into it, I think that was the adit itself. Hard to see though until it’s winter.
ОтветитьThe concrete is the head gear footings.
ОтветитьThe shaft caps are there still, if where the head gear base is follow a path down the side, there’s an old chain link fence, then a bit further on its collapsed and about 10-15 metres in there is a huge bit of concrete with a pipe sticking out, then a bit further on a shaft marker. Before my time but it was filled in properly some time in the early 80’s.
ОтветитьI’ve another place that you’d probably do a good video on, it’s called Swallows Colliery up Mosborough Moor, I’ve loads of information on it. Also Moorside Colliery, believe it or not there’s still the remains of an old pit cart there in amongst the undergrowth.
