I actually took momma and all her 5 kittens from someone because i didn't want to separate them as i am a momma myself and i didn't want to cause her any distress. I got her and her babies of 4 weeks which r now 9 weeks. However i did promisse i would give 2 of her babies and now i regret it as i grew attached to them aswell as my children. 😢 if the boy goes (think there is only 1) i wont have to hopefully spay the females as it will all b females in the house

If the kittens have reached the age of weening, then no. It is all just instinct.

Our cat shares territory with 2 of her now adult kits. She didn't seem to miss the other 3 given away to new homes. Same with the neighbors cat. The other neighbors cat lost her litter but looked like she got quickly over it.

A street cat brought her 4 babies home. We already had 2 cats… we couldn’t have 6! When time for adoption happened, she would come to the room meowing and meowing for days. She got over it, and we let her keep one of the kitties. They’re incredible.

I grew up on a farm with many cats. Most of these cats were not pets. Only in the spring were there any kitten births. Only one particular cat had two litters per year. She would have the first and last litter each spring.

One of the most heartwarming things I've ever seen was when 3 of my cats all had kittens at the same time. I had set up 3 separate boxes each with blankets for them to have a warm cozy spot to nurse their kittens. One day I came home from work and they had placed all 3 litters in the same box and they were taking turns nursing all the kittens.

I used to have mom with many kittens. Some of the kitten were adopted by neighbourhood. Even for a cat it's not so close. When they meet after a long time they still greet and snuggle each other like mom and kids, but they really don't travel everyday or every week to meet each other. In fact I don;t think they plan a visit to see each other rather merely by coincidence they meet each ther in the same neighborhood. The kitten who were adopted far away, I have seen after many years when they meet with parents, both initially can't recognise each other and act like stargers. Even they hissh or slap. But sometimes later they can recognise. How long is this sometime is unknown. Possibly this is just to avoid any kind of inbreeding they always remember their family members scents.

Oh boy ... Here we go ... Another animal lover thinking they can intuitively psychoanalyze other species ... As long as the other species is cute and does things that triggers their human instincts to care for cute things.

I think cats are well aware if we take good care of them or not. So trust us when the time comes to make sure the kittens also have a happy life.

We had a cat that had a few litters of kittens, and she definitely missed them when they were given out. We did keep one kitten from each litter. But she would meow and look everywhere for the kittens that were gone.

You should put up some wall art or tapestries in this room if you want to make videos in it. The echo is disturbing.

I wished you'd included that kittens should stay with their mum until 12 weeks. So many people try to give them away at 5 or 6 weeks which causes all kinds of issues.

Never knew this. But one thing I do know is both cats and women have this one thing in common - chase them and they tend to withdraw - act with a slight indifference to them and they will seek you out.

From personal experience, no. They are not sad. There comes a point where the kittens are weaned and the mom is firmly of the view that most of them, especially the males, need to move out so that she can get on with making the next batch.

That instinct doesn't go away from humans, we are slaves to it. However, for cats it goes away shortly after they stop producing milk.

My cat had 4 kittens EIGHT months ago. The last two kittens are finally being adopted today. Definitely the best thing for them. I knew it was a foster situation when I took them in but I am full of mixed emotions since their mom Sky and I have raised them together since birth. None of the sibs are going together. Mom and these last three (keeping one) have been together 8 months now! I pray they won't be sad! 😭

Mom cats can also be ferocious, if you don't give the kittens away for adoption, the mom will start to drive them out somewhere between 12-14 weeks, which is the optimal time to have them adopted, as by that time the kittens are usually fully house trained, have a certain bite inhibition and so on and so forth.

my father many years ago had a cat who loved kittens so much she would accept any kitten she saw. wich means when he had 3 cats with kittens all was with her. even when some was 4 weaks and others was 8 and 12 weaks. she wanted all the babies. also when we had a litter rejected by their mom she took them like they was hers.

One of the kittens instead of sleeping with others or her mom, she slept with me. So my mom desided to adopt her for chrismas for me. Its been 9 years and she is still my baby :)

While cats definitely have maternal instinct calling it love is a stretch. Love is define only as something people feel. I doubt that animals have the mental capability to feel love. Unless for somebody feeling devoted of mental, intellectual connections can be classified as love... but that just seems sad.

I used to live with someone who rescued cats, and she took in a few cats who were pregnant. I'll never forget the one who, after her babies were eating kitten food but still wanting to nurse, was tired of it. One time I saw her try to get away from a couple kittens who had started nursing, and she ended up dragging them, hanging onto her nipples by their little teeth - but she kept right on walking until they dropped off! Cats are weird.

The sound quality is terrible--your opinions aren't important enough to put up with the echo. Get a better mic (you can easily get one for under $20) and put something on the walls to stop the echo.

Hopefully, you'll do something about the audio and it'll be worth coming back. BTW, I have an orange cat sleeping in my arms...I noticed you have a few yourself. Heh.
