Home Recording just got EASIER! Universal Audio VOLT

Was going to get a Rodecaster II but picked up a 476 instead looking forward to using it now after this video thanks.

I’ve been wanting to get an easy to use and understand Interface to record myself with. I’ve had a Focusrite, and Presonus both and didn’t care for either one and sold them both. I saw the UA unit recently and was thinking about getting the single one. However after watching this very instructive and comprehensive Demo video, I have see the light, so to speak, and I will be getting the double input with the compressor unit. Loved the video and I subscribed the the channel…! Can’t wait to start going through the videos on this channel….!

I just bought the Volt 4. Mostly for use with my 2020 iPad Pro. It’s really good. Surprisingly good. USB-c buss powered. 4 inputs of clean, no latency audio. Standard MIDI in and out jacks with no added latency. Great, future proof investment. Finally an iOS interface that just works.

It's a great tool - but I'm sticking with buying a Lewitt Connect 6. Their Mics are the BOMB. Flex 441 is my holy grail.

Want a chuckle? Got one of these couple days ago, get everything installed and get the input/output set up through the daw. Grab my headphones ready to be the next old man to go digital, then I realise I cant find the jack adaptor for my headphones, AKG have a proprietary screw on jack adapter that comes with the headphones... So still not mr digital.

Thank you! I've been looking for a hardware stereo compressor solution, to run a mix through, or overhead drum mics. this is a perfect solution! I've got a mixer/interface with inserts I can run this bad boy through. For a home studio I just can't justify spending thousands of dollars. for their rach mount compressors but 270 bucks! Hell yes. Great review.

What is a good interface to get? That is under a 100 bucks just for guitar.

Will the Apollo Twin X type c'd into a ipad 2022 Pro or do i need the universal audio volt? They type c to type c isnt working to my ipad from my apollo twin so before buying this what could the issue be or do i just need this device not a apollo twin x?

This interface does work well on Windows?

If i plug microphones into the volt and plug the volt into the iphone, will the audio from the microphones be used when recording videos. Will it be used for going live on social media and what not. I want to make sure that I can record videos and livestream using the audi from the microphones plugged into the audi interface.

So this has preamps but also a vintage mode?

its not the interface that makes the studio its the pc build plain and simple what you cant do on that mac with a diff piece of gear i can do because my build stomps yours

also i can run my other tascam us 4x4 and i can run it at 8 rather than 64 so i win .my own build its only a intell i7 socket 2011-3 intell kills mac in every category think your pro and still cant do what i can do because techies dont know what i know because im also a musician and couldn't get any techy to know how to build a pc for studio so did it and the setup myself techys can be dipshits as well just because there nerds dont mean they know what theyre doing when building a studio pc

Tascam us-144 mkll does it my seymores are active and are 54.3 something like that my emghz are 8.17 as a comparison but the tascam handles it no problem and i think maybe something wrong why it has so much power or least i thought .but what are those pickups power rating on the ohm meter

I think the models under the 476 are useless unless you are sure you will always record alone and stay 100% in the box.
I can't even use my headphone amps to record a singer in the next room with the 276 because it doesn't have outputs😐
The lack of ADAT is a shame imo, what do you do when you need more than 4 mics ? At Audient no problem, add an ADA8200 and record the band.

This is a great interface, and I bought it after seeing this video. Easy to use, sounds great. Tempting to throw a preamp, or compression on everything but don't!! listen back before you commit to more takes. I like vocal compressor with no preamp for vocals. Guitar compressor works well on guitars, the preamp won't be needed if you have let's say.....a 1950's Gibson J50, but if you have a new Takamine go for it. Bass.. I am still figuring out, but I have made a few bass tracks that seem too muddy using compression and the preamp so leave some highs on your tone knob if you normally don't you can take them out later. Just my two cents.Trying drums this weekend. Again thanks for the video veryy happy with my purchase.

No, what they did is they got rid of the DSP part of their hardware (which processes their online plugins) which made most of the cost of their Apollo unit...

Hey Glenn! Im doing guitar vocals and possibly some tracking at home. I have a presonus audiobox 1, would it be worth upgrading to something like the presonus 1826c or should i just pivot to the volt 276?

Glenn, HELP PLEASE! I have the volt 276. I record line in with my medium output guitar with humbuckers. When I use the built in compressor on guitar mode it clips. This is with the gain turned on low and the instrument button on. Should I not use the compressor when playing with my electric guitar. I really want to utilize the compressor, but I don't want it to clip. Was it made more for acoustic guitars?

Do the USB output and 1/4 outputs work at the same time?

Saw a comment saying the preamps were “pro-sumer” grade…I’m thinking of purchasing a Volt 2 by UA. I’d be upgrading from a Presonus Firebox 96. I run a Windows 10 PC and Ableton 11 suite (Edu).

Are you all satisfied with the preamps on this device?
Also, I’ve not used USB C much at all. I’m used to my Firebox, and it is a USB based interface. (The more square shapes USB from the back of the device to a regular, skinny classic USB port.

How much better would you say the audio/digital converters when compared to the presonus firebox?
How about the preamps.

Will I encounter any issues running Windows 10 (both service packs, I’m extremely hesitant to move to Windows 11).

How did you release your XLR cables? did you notice after you plug your XLR in it is impossible to pull it out? You will never have access to use that channel with TRS Quarter inch input. I have 2 Volts a 4/76 and a 2/76 my XLR cables a permanently locked in. They have no release tab.

Ohh the Neuman MT-48 superior stats,, wait SSL SSL12 has almost as much (and the SSL 4k) ,vs Neve 88M, Apogee Symphony Desktop , RME Babyface Pro FS 24, then crosscheck against the Apollo or UA Volt, but wait there's the reliable Focusrite Scarlet 2i2, vs Audient's iD24 vs Motu M2 vs Presonus 24... And then there are so may others not mentioned much such as Lewitt Connect 6,,Avid MBOX Studio USB-C,Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD, Roland or Steinberg or Yamaha or Oh My head is hurting. Do I go large Cranborne Audio 500R8 or Small Black Lion Audio Revolution orrrr stick with my Mackie Onyx Blackjack ehhh I think Glen is right simple easy plug in and go with great sound Volt hmmmmmm. Wheres a large comparison chart for them all when you need it? So far away from the days of the M-Audio Fast track lol

Unpopular Opinion: Mic input should be at the back

I need a way out of hell, with bad drivers on Windows 11, with the gear I have now. The built in compressor would also simplify things. But does anyone have experience with the Volt on Windows? Is it stable and reliable?
