ОтветитьGood Morning. I know this may seem petty but do you mind comparing the Brother 1034D with the Brother 1034DX please? I’m Thorne’s between the two and as a beginner I have no clue. Thanks.
ОтветитьThank you very much. Now I know what I am looking for. Very helpful.
ОтветитьI’ve had th brother for years. Love it.
ОтветитьI truly appreciate your willingness to research each of the machines. I have a Brother1043D and have never regretted my decision. Thanks for the confirmation - even 2 years late on my part!
ОтветитьThis was sooo thorough. I love it.
ОтветитьI thank you for such a great comparison. It helped me decide what to purchase.
ОтветитьOMG What an amazing video! It's Prime Day (too bad they are not on sale) and I feel like buying something. I have narrowed it down to those 3 machines before discovering your video! THIS IS PERFECT! Thank you! Update: What do you think about Juki serger MO654DE
ОтветитьThank you for your video; it was excellent. However, I have to disagree with you. I have all three similar machines - Singer Stylist, Brother 3234DT and the Juki 654DE. By FAR the Juki flawlessly and effortlessly sewed through 6 layers of denim - I was hemming jeans. The Brother accomplished it but groaned and the stitches were not perfect. The Singer was a mess. It broke a needle, which I immediately replaced. In addition the machine shook like crazy, moving all over the table. The new denim needle I installed in the Singer penetrated halfway through then just jammed up. The Singer is great for regular garment construction but not anything heavy. The brother works well for garment construction and heavier weight cottons like for deco sewing. The Juki, to me, is the shining star. The only slight comparison would be a Bernina machine.
ОтветитьI thought you were extremely helpful! You covered more information regarding sergers then any other videos I watched. Thank you! I hope brother gives you a 2023 model 😊
ОтветитьI've had my Brother 1034d for 14 years now, had it serviced perhaps 5 times, and changed the blades out once (I think they're due for another change). It just keeps going! It's so easy to thread, so I never use the tie-off shortcut. I can't bring myself to purchase a fancier serger because this one just keeps chugging on! I appreciate you showing the threading on the other machines. I didn't realize others weren't as easy as the Brother!
Ответитьi bought the borther because of you and aftera year or so i tries sewing corduroy and bam it killed my machine lmao.i havbe no idea what happened but the machine broke broke 😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьI have two Singer sewing machine: Simple and Heavy Duty. Even the Simple model shakes like crazy! I've had things bounce and dance around on my table and fall off while I was sewing. I'm interested in getting a serger next and your video was so thorough, honest, and helpful. Thank you!
ОтветитьAwesome video but that brother you said is your baby had it for 4+ years don’t like it at all and it easily goes out of time definitely selling it the repair people told me you get what you pay for and I paid like 150 for it hate it honestly
ОтветитьGreat video and comments!! Thanks a lot this really helps!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьThanks so much for this review! This is my first time seeing your videos. You did an amazing job I love it!
ОтветитьMy sewing room went through a fire and I bought new machines. I previously had the Brother machine but this time I decided to try the Singer serger. I’m going to find a video tutorial on how to thread it today. The Singer doesn’t come with any instruction manual. 😢 you have to get the manual online.
Ответитьi sew with lots of Layers, i do larp. i tend to push the number of Layers to basicity the max(with my old machine), and i need to find a serger to keep up with my heavy Janome
ОтветитьWho wants way way easier threading go for Janome 2000D
ОтветитьRe tie off threading: since these all use standard sewing machine needles, how does the knot pass through the needle eye? That seems like a tight fit.
ОтветитьI recently bought a cheap second hand husqvarna viking 905 and I’m glad to see that I at least didn’t get one of the ones with annoying threading. The only trouble I had threading it was that the thingies where the thread enters the machine (in between the overhead mast and the tension discs) were wildly clogged up with lint. It required taking off both side covers and the rear cover to get at those thingies but once there they were very easily cleaned out and it threads pretty easily now.
ОтветитьThanks for your video. I own the Brother 1034DX and I love it. I’ve had it for a couple of years now. I don’t sew as much as you do but so far I’ve really enjoyed using it. I’ve had no problems and I don’t think threading it is hard. I’m amazed how many people are intimidated by threading it, but I have a natural ability to work with mechanical things. I used to tear apart our vacuum cleaner and replace the belt, or clean off the roller on it so maybe it’s just me. Anyway, I own a number of Brother products and so far so good. I’m hoping to buy their Coverstitch machine this month, and I hope it performs equally as well as everything else I own that is made by them.
ОтветитьPurchased Brothers a year ago. Love the easy threading. Had a White server in the past. Agree with you 💯
ОтветитьGot a Brother 1034D yesterday. My 70th birthday. Looking for the specs I found them under Brother's "commercial" listing. Bottem of their commercial models, but that six layer test convinces me I got something good.
ОтветитьGood too know
ОтветитьHow can I get one 1034DX
ОтветитьHi. I have a Juki 644D. Paid $250.00 for it. I don't see anywhere it says it has a freearm. I bought the Juki on the advice of the local sewing repairman. It's funny, because the store he works with sells Janome but he and the store owner told me to go with the Juki
ОтветитьIf you have money to spend, BabyLock sergers are top notch.
ОтветитьThank you !
ОтветитьImustbbe honest still have problems threadiing brother tho when it works it's greatn
Ответить❤
ОтветитьOooooh! I wanna see the Juki with the foot pressure loosened!
Ответитьthe tightness with the Brother might just be a matter of tension setting
ОтветитьThis video arrived in my feeds at the right time. My Juki Mo 645 died not to long ago. I have moved and I am sure something happened... My sewing teacher has the same and two other brand and I was going to change brand just to experiment. After watching you I realized that I am used to my Juki and will purchase again. The price here in Feb 2023 is 650 euros (that was a good price) in a mom and pop store which usually I prefer to encourage. (but) I have found a used one that I will go see soon. Thank you for this video, ciao from Italia
ОтветитьI sew pouches for a marsupial rescue which requires multiple layers. After many tries and fails, I ended up with a Singer Heavy Duty Sewing Machine which is the only machine that held up to the abuse I give a machine, so, I have purchased a Singer Heavy Duty Serger as well. I hope I made the right choice after seeing your reviews but I guess we will see. Thank you for the video, it was very helpful.
ОтветитьBrest review ever! Thanks
ОтветитьI absolutely sew in layers! Infact I sew in layers of leather, so the ability of any machine I get is a must be able to easily see through multiple layers!!!
Ответитьthis was so helpful and informative! thanks so much!
ОтветитьExcellent review. Helpful, informative, to the point, covered all the important points needed to understand serger shopping needs. Thanks so much. Mucho Gracias
ОтветитьI love your energy and videos. I bought a Brother 1034D about a year ago and it sat under my sewing table. Admittedly I was still learning to sew with a regular sewing machine, but given that I mostly sew men’s clothes (our family of 4 is all guys) I figured I would get into it eventually. But honestly things other people said about serging intimidated me a bit. Then I needed to power through some pyjama builds… so I thought I’d give it a whirl. It was easy to thread, not hard to adjust tensions (and in fact it sewed like butter on the standard tensions), and I LOVE it! So fast, so easy to “steer” fabric, so neat and clean a 4 thread stitch! I’m sold on the Brother 1034D, and your video confirms that I made a good decision! (I started with a Brother CE1000 and have just purchased a Brother ST150HDH, so I am thankful for all your videos!)
Now I need a coverstitch machine…. lol
Thanks for ALL the info, hints and tips!
ОтветитьI own the Brother 1034 and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Like you, I'd say it's easy to thread and change out needles. I'd recommend this model to anyone but especially first time users.
ОтветитьThanks! I bought the Brother 1634dx. It was the same one I had a former student buy in 2018 (according to Amazon). Her's was around $250. I got it for $202 to my house from eBay. I may enter a bid on one for Tuesday. It depends on how high the bidding goes. I'm watching, but I already have one so I'm not worried.
The overlock will be a fantastic addition to my class. Mostly I'll just use it for clean seams rather than the time-consuming flatfeet, and French seams. They'll still learn those, but once they're making things, I'll want the professional look of the overlock. Plus, it's going to make my class "Pop" and hopefully popular. There's very little sewing here in "Bako"
I liked the idea of the 6 layers and the higher presser foot lift.
Thanks again! If you're ever in Bakersfield, you'll need to check out my class!
My newest motto that I'm telling people is, "Transform your life, start sewing today." I transformed my life when I started sewing 39 years ago.
I love sewing so much. I make things daily and a lot. I sew production-style and I can sew fast when needed.
Thank you so much. I'm starting a sewing class and wanted an overlock for the students.
I have a Singer portable 4-thread that works well, but I want to keep it home.
I bought four machines, 2 new and two from an eBay auction, so I should have around 10 machines for the class.
I have a Juki 6-thread industrial overlock. I only use the four threads, however. The other two threads are a chain stitch.
I've had this machine for 14 years and never even had to change a needle.
I did change the lower blade, and I need to change the upper blade, but it's still cutting after an adjustment, so I'm waiting for it to stop cutting, and I'll put a new top and bottom blade.
I'll go with the Brother. Thanks so much for the video.
I've been sewing and making all my clothes and other things since 1984.
Omg I'm taking notes
ОтветитьMy first time watching your video
You're really good.
I love your Spirit
Thank you
I bought me a Brother 1034 D serger,Thanks to you🙂. I also want to know, Does it matter,what bobbins i should buy,Plastic Or metal bobbins? Please respond,Thx🙂uh
ОтветитьI have the Brother 1634DX which is the same as the 1034. I really like this machine. I bought it on a whim several years ago and just recently started using it. Once I get the settings right, I like the stitch quality, except for the rolled hem. I think it could be better. I am thinking of upgrading to a 5 thread and really appreciate the comparison. These are 3 brands I am considering and while the machines may be different, I think the quality and quirks will translate well.
ОтветитьI just got the 1034DX for 160 and I’m super excited to use a overlocking to step up my sewing.
