I discuss research methods that you should avoid with your PhD. A research method is the type of procedure in which you perform an investigation of a scientific topic. There are many different kinds of research methods and subdomains to study. I suggest possible ones to avoid during your PhD.
1. Research Methods That Will Take To Long To Execute. In a PhD, you often only have a certain amount of time to execute on a research study. You should look for research methods that can provide results within 1 to 2 years of study. Indeed, if you think it’s going to take you a few months, that’s probably a better one to use.
2. Research Methods That Are Too Expensive. For your PhD research you should look for research methods that are relatively inexpensive and it will just cost you a few thousand dollars. Those that require a large lab or a grant support are likely outside of the scale of your research.
3. Research Methods That You Are Not Interested In For A Decade. You should look for research methods that will allow you to do research for a decade or so. Often when you get trained in one research method, you develop a core competency but this becomes a core rigidity. You have to enjoy that method for a long time.
4. Research Methods That Are Relatively Controversial For The Time. The last thing that you need to be worrying about is whether a particular research method is controversial when you’re going up on the job market.
5. Research Methods That You Do Not Buy-In To. If you do not believe that the results are valid from one particular research method, then it’s probably not a good idea to pursue that particular research method.

David Maslach is a research professor of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy, I discuss topics, such as behavioral science, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and apply these to my new peer proofreading and editing platform. Topics include the sharing economy, altruism, investing in technology, starting a business, and bounded rationality. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements.
https://r3ciprocity.com: Peer proofreading and editing platform
A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money.
The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.
