Since you are a music professional, I would like to give you my observations about what Sohyang can tell us about the trends in the Korean music scene, as they reflect bigger trends in Korean entertainment in general.

I think it is a welcome thing that a singer having an avowed faith conviction is now finally able to attain the same standing as her peers - but it came at great cost and tragedy. I think the main reason we are seing a CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) artist on shows like this is that the Korean public has realised how rotten the entertainment industry at large actually is. There are too many Harvey Weinsteins in Korea to count. In fact people aren't shocked to hear such stories any more. Maybe it is a vestige of the Korean "gisaeng" (courtesan) culture, where people having high social status expected certain forms of entertainment as a form of hospitality.

I think the Korean entertainment industry has realised that it cannot afford anymore to marginalise those having such a wholesome image as Sohyang - otherwise most of the public will quickly lose interest in an industry whose image has been greatly tarnished.

"Me too" should be a slogan that Bible believers can claim as their own; they too should get recognition commensurate with their ability. If a singer like Sohyang is consigned to sing in churches, the only losers are the greater Korean public.
