So who makes the power supply you have shown in the video that tells you the wattage being pulled? Thats neat.

No...just, no, that's not how any of that works. It's still an ARM chip, if it was say, Risc-V you might have a point, but it's just ARM. That's like saying when a new intel processor comes out, the software "needs adapting". You can run arm code from the 80s on arm processors today. What "needs adapting", is performance optimizations, and often, we need drivers for things like the GPU. Most of the emulators need nothing done to them to just work out of the box, but if they require GPU acceleration, that's where there are likely to be issues, or potentially not with its ability to accept a "proper" gpu now.

Was someone already to test Minecraft Java Edition on the Pi5? I would like to know how performant it is. Could it be used as a lightweight client to play Vanilla - eventually with some Performance tweaks and OptiFine? How many FPS could I achieve with this?

I still have a Pi 4, but it is not fast engough to play Minecraft on it, sadly...

Stocks seem quite limited right now according to some reports. I'll wait for the Pi 6 that I think will come next year. I just don't think that this is powerful enough to last the course.

Is it easy to migrate from Raspberry pi 4B to Pi 5? Can I just connect my ssd to the Pi 5 and will it work without issues? Any help on this is appreciated. Cheers

So Ubuntu 23.10 runs PS2 emulation on Pi5? I'm after the old PES games (3, 5 & 6). Complete Pi noob so will go through your tutorials.

Another question, can the sdcards used in earlier versions of the pi be moved over to the rpi5? Is it safe to try it (I expect to do an image of the card first)? The sdcards I'm considering are one used as a headless media server, a rpi3(B?), and a raspad with an rpi4B. The rpi3 card is the one I'd really prefer not to do a reinstall.Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, how accurate and reliable are those inline usb cable meters and (if you have one) the separate usb meters.

I run one Pi4B with OctoPi + OctoPrint, one Pi4B as a Pi-hole device and plan on making a time lapse camera with either a Pi4B or Pi5B once picamera2 gets out of beta.

I must say that I am genuinely impressed with the Pi Foundation.

I wasn't rushing to get a Pi 5 (because I don't really need one yet) but then I got an email from The MagPi magazine a few weeks ago telling me that as a subscriber, a Pi 5 had been reserved for me if I wanted to order it.

So I did and it has arrived today! The complete package - Pi 5, fan, case and power supply, and still a week left before "the end of October" as Eben had suggested.
