2.1kg is very light for a laptop, in my opinion. That's twice the weight of my water bottle and barely noticeable in my backpack.

The 16" has better thermal management but I think the 14" model suffers from an issue where the fans turn on way too early around 65c vs 80c core temps for the 16" model... hopefully they'll sort it out with a firmware update.

would you think a 10 cpu , 24gpu be sufficient for trading applications ?

I have one of both. I love my 14-in whenever I'm traveling or just taking it around. But the 16 is a great option for working from home or having on set when I'm producing something.

I was just able to purchase a 16” 32gb, 1 tb SSD with M1 Max for $2300. Apple Certified refurb’s which look brands new and come with full warranty. Feel like a steal ( I believe this machine was sold for $3500 a few months back). Amazing screen, biggest difference I noticed moving from my almost 10 year old 15” Late 2013 MacBook Pro (16GB ram and 512gb SSD upgraded to 1 tb). That old laptop still works greats. But it’s nice jump to this laptop. Still getting used to the weight the 15” was almost 700grams lighter, which feels significant right now, but I’ll get used to it. Amazing piece of machinery.

Comparing the 14-inch and 16-inch models with the same 10-core CPU would provide a fairer comparison. If you happen to have experience with the MBP 14 10 core, I would be glad to read or hear your review of the MBP 16 10-core versus the MBP 14 10-core.

of course the 16 in is more powerful, it has to be for the extra cost. But in the real world you can save about 400 bucks or more with the base 14 inch and be perfectly satisfied. The display is beautiful and you cannot tell that much of difference, the webcam is exactly the same. I listented to the speaker on both, and there is a difference but it is marginal at best. The difference in the time the fans comes on is almost academic, because both cool just fine an the fan noist is unobtrusive on both. I you are budget conscious the 14 inch is going to work just fine. Yes it is smaller so just like the 13 inch you do not have as much keyboar realastate but the portibility makes up for it. If you have the money to spend go ahead with the 16 inch, otherwise you will probably find the 14 inch very satisfactory, Also you have to consider the lower resolution of the 14 inch comes with a smaller screen so it just about a wash. The things that you mentioned to me are just enough to consider the 16 inch that much more powerful with the exception of the size. Cooler, yes, but that much , no

I am looking for a new macbook pro and am confused between 2 models

Should I go for the latest chip in the
market or a previous version that gives me better speakers, battery, screens and double storage?

i wouldn’t mind taking 16inch at the expense of less portability. The bigger screen size will save your eyes in long run and extra space on screen will definitely increase productivity and comforting eyes will let you work longer hence better value in return. Its not a bad deal to get comforting eyes and bear a little compromise in portability. If i were in school or college i would go with 14inch.

I got the 14” M2 max. 1TB, 16GB. It is a BEAST. Rendering from FCP Pro, using Pro Tools. Haven’t heard the fan yet. No regrets.

I was in the market for a new macbook this week. Budget was around $1000-$1200 so naturally I thought my only option was a MacBook air. Well I ended up taking a look at apple's refurbished section online. Ended up finding 14" m1 pro model 16gb ram, 512gb SSD and pro chip for $1250. If I wanted a new 14" M2 model I think the cheapest I could find was around $2000 . So definitely a good bang for the buck Just got it in the mail yesterday and you can't even tell it's a refurb. Looks absolutely brand new! It's my first pro model so I'm really excited to use it more. But point of this post is to checkout apple's refurbished section

My only critic to your idea is about the devices you should add to your setup at home. also if you a buy a notebook you should definotely integrate it with mouse keyboard and an external screen. When you are at home, use external keyboard, mouse and an external screen.. Your body will be grateful
