No wonder you didn't find it on the site. Synoology... 😂 I just picked up mine for $98 Canadian dollars. Was super happy to see it at this price! Got the BC 500. So far it's been very reliable for the last 3 days. The built in AI detection features make it much better than my hikvision 8mp camera.
ОтветитьVery nice!
ОтветитьWhat are your thoughts about the installation flexibility? I've watched Synology installation video of the TC500. Where do you put the huge connector when you've got the network cable coming out the facade through a 19mm pipe? It ain't gonna fit in the pipe nor below the camera in the base. The cable should've been very short so that you can terminate right below it, versions with various cable lenghts so that you can terminate at the switch/patch panel, or like Unify camera's with no cable but a port. Will there perhaps be a wall mount coming too, like Dahua's where you can terminate inside of it? Those phat junction boxes between the camera and the facade/overhang are not a good look.
ОтветитьNice short to the point review and thank you for the time in making the content
ОтветитьNumber 1 feature: Made in Taiwan with Taiwanese IC by Novatek, real security from the ground up, not another CCP camera!
ОтветитьLawrence! Long time no see on my YT homepage.
ОтветитьLove the part where they don't need the license. 👍
ОтветитьTom what brand cameras are your favorite that work with Synology?
ОтветитьHas anyone been able to set up SSO + MFA on Synology NVR?
Ответитьi didnt know what taa and ndaa are, i look up and are USA thinks, i hope they will go down with the price in the rest of countries
ОтветитьI'm interested. The security cam market is flooded with spyware apps and shady cam connections.
ОтветитьThanks for the shout out Tom.Tremendous praise indeed! Have a great weekend!
ОтветитьAre these camera's onvif compliant or are they like the Unifi camera a CLOSED eco system. It would be great if it was ONVIF as this allows for a greater number of camera types..
Still find it hard to go past a Real NVR with all the cool functions like face, Numberplate etc recognition and alerting.
I literally just took delivery of a beefy Synology NAS and 40 Amcrest cameras for a new project. Sigh....
Ответитьgreeting from Malaysia, looking on this product
ОтветитьThis is an interesting move by Synology, but definitely understandable. Synology has done a lot of work to get thousands of cameras to work with their NAS and NVR systems. This will be the simplified option that fully integrates with their NAS and NVR offerings. Looking forward to seeing what this pans out to. Hopefully, they keep putting in the work for other third party camera offerings.
ОтветитьSynoology
FAIL
Curious who the manufacture is.. You can normally find out by the prefix on the MAC address or the exposed APIs.
dahua is ultimately the manufacture of many brands these days (a lot of amcrest is just dahua)
Inevitable camera lock-in coming? Hopefully they continue to compete.
ОтветитьIt would be great marketing if they had 2 network ports with one operating as a switch, so anyone wanting to try them out could perhaps plug PoE into it, then daisy chain to the originally used camera. I've gone the Unifi route but I'm keen to try Synology at some point.
ОтветитьAt some point in the future, how to set these up on a vlan to the NAS would be an interesting video. I get the feeling, that setup, probably requires a dedicated NAS to keep things simpler for those of us that do not aspire to be network wizards. That would protect the network from intrusion via stolen camera connection. Great news though, Cautiously optimistic !
ОтветитьIf these cameras do not need a license that's probably going to make these cameras more expensive than they would've been otherwise. I'm looking to replace my stupid cameras with smart ones but I've already paid for all the licenses. Fingers crossed they are priced competitively.
ОтветитьCautiously excited. Could finally be another option other than UniFi Protect "walled-prison". Do you know if these cameras can be used in a basic RTSP and/or ONVIF mode? Even if losing the AI smart features, would be nice to at least be able to "fall back" to basic usable camera at an existing installation if the NVR is replaced or swapped in the future. (At least some of the UniFi Protect cameras can run in basic mode).
Lastly, a small "nit" - Can't really call this a product release when there is no pricing given. That's a tease or pre-release, Synology. If you want the full PR coverage, you should have stated the MSRP pricing. Also, no ordering or ship dates given.
More seamless firmware updates and no additonal licensing sound great.
ОтветитьHavent been on the channel lately but that animation at the beggining is very nice. Wish I had the means to do those.
ОтветитьOMG I need that dark theme 5 years ago!
