Maxing out the storage on this one is a big call Patrick. I know you can never have to much but holy moly the cost of it 😂. Super content as always. 🔥

You didn't fully spec it out if you got the 14 inch instead of the 16 inch. It doesn't matter if they have the same specs on paper, you're going to get thermal throttling.

Whether you max out storage and memory or not, you want the 16" for the better cooling. The 14" model throttles performance in order to manage heat when under load. Of course, if all a person is using the computer for is office productivity and/or programming (other than AI), then the M3 MAX is overkill in any configuration and throttling due to heat will never be a concern.

Did he even used it? Or he bought it and decided to talk a bit about it? He said he is happy with the battery but didn’t told a thing apart of showing pic from Apple web. All these reviews is waste of time ffs

This round of chips is interesting. Benchmarks absolutely do not represent real world performance more than ever! The pro chip is surprising most, even with that 8gb RAM

@Mehwhatevr - 14.11.2023 13:33

If you're watching this video, you should not get the base model. Anyone who is watching this video needs more than 8 GB of RAM. The benchmarks also show that the 8 GB model is crippled. The extra 8 GB of RAM unlocks the M3.

The benchmarks I see suggest that the M3 pro is not significantly faster than the M2 Pro, but it is a heck of a lot more efficient. In some test, it is superior and sometimes it is inferior, and sometimes that is kind of the same. but The battery life on the M3 pro smashes the M2 Pro if battery life is a concern for you do some more research. though the M3 pro does get hotter, I think I saw, and so the fans are louder.

I'll be honest, I would not have put the Max in the 14" - only one fan, it's going to be a leaf blower when stressed.

Well, I can definitely say the MacBook Pro m3 Max is a huge update for me, considering I upgraded from my 2013 MacBook Pro 10 years. Now that I have the pro m3max, It will be another 10 years before I upgrade, bu then they might just have holographic computers

Love it when you young people talk about the high price of Apple products. Steve Jobs unveiled the first Mac I ever owned the 1984 Apple Macintosh computer with at $2,500.00 US price tag. Today adjusted for inflation cost of that original 1984 Apple McIntosh would be $7,405.90 US in October 2023.

So it would cost more than the MAXED out M3 Max MacBook Pro in this clip.

I'm fascinated in how well M3 Max will work for 3D programs? I know there's Blender tests, but there's the timeline scrubbing, creating high res models, high polygon count, physics, VFX, etc. Different 3D programs like Maya, Zbrush, Unreal Engine, Unity, etc. Overall I still think it's an amazing machine but the price is hard to swallow, I'll be saving up for a while before I can get one. I've been wanting a portable laptop with extra battery life. I do have an amazing Windows laptop and I love it, but it's plugged in most of the time so it feels more like a desktop rather than a laptop with the extra battery life. I remember the struggle of looking for somewhere to plug into my Windows laptop since it lasts only 2 hours battery since it's so power hungry when I was taking 3D classes. I do a mix of 3D animation, video editing and start coding recently.

I have never owned a mac of any kind ever. I have always used PC's. But I am now fully into the Apple ecosystem and a mac has been on my mind since the M1. I doubt I will ever buy one since they are EXTREMELY expensive and the type of work I do does not warrant me using a mac, but I have been thinking about maybe a used M1 or even the Air. But I still enjoy watching these kinds of videos of the new products Apple is releasing. I have an ipad pro M2 that I use for video editing and entertainment and love every bit of that device though.

Great review, and so many things I agree with. Fourteen inches is the ideal travel size for a laptop, the laptop you ordered is for top tier users, the base model is good for most users, etc. The one thing you didn't mention is that the M1 MBP 14 is still a great alternative for a lot of us.
(guess which one I have 😁)

By the way, if I going to game on the M3 Max 16 inches MacBook Pro, is there still reason to get the Steam Deck OLED?

if you have money to burn then go ahead and upgrade but end of the day if your happy with your current work flow efficiency..ie..nothing is throttling and export is fast enough etc...what is the point of spending $4k and up to upgrade so you can save few minutes that you never cared about? im sticking with the m1 pro max. i have the money but refuse to spend thousands of dollars so i can save 10mins.

The base model is the one to skip. 8GB RAM is ok for Macbook Air, but no one should buy such configuration in Macbook Pro. And when you upgrade the new M3 Macbook Pro to 16GB, then the price is so close to M3 Pro option, where you get more CPU cores, more GPU cores, even 2 more GB RAM, more ports, screens, two fans... Then M3 Pro is the option to go for.

@Patrick Rambles: I’m going from a 2017 iMac i7 4.2Ghz Intel to a new MacBook Pro. Considering I want to do some work with AfterEffects and Blender but mainly do print and web design as a professional, should I go for the new M3 Pro, M3 Max (base) or a M2 Max (base) model? Having a hard time determining what is truly needed as I plan to keep it for at least 5 years. Help!!! 😊

Spending 8 grand on a computer that is more than 2 times as expensive as a Windows Laptop and 2 times slower than a Windows Machine. 1 year old RTX 4090 is 2 times faster than M3 Max for hardcore video editing effects like Noise Reduction for example.

Just picked up a Factory Sealed Apple Refurbished 14 inch M1 Macbook Pro 10/16 with 16 GB and 1 TB for $1367.00 with one year Apple warranty included and it's also eligible for Apple Care + Saved literally thousands over the M3 Max and it edits everything in both FCPX and Davinci Resolve at 54 C all day long. Good luck with those 108 C temps!

It's bumming me out that all the comparison videos and benchmarks are focused on video editing and rendering. I get it, but I want to see at least one that compares the speed of these machines on coding tasks. How fast will my Docker build be? How do they handle a cluster of VMs for Kubernetes testing? How fast do they run my test suite? 😢

Great, informative video! Question: I do photo editing (not video) but my 2019 16”, maxed out with 64 GB RAM, is struggling to keep up with the editing and other functions. What combination of memory and level (M3, on-sale M2, M3 Pro or Max) do you think would work best? For example, would the new machines with LESS memory (48GB) suffice, or would I need to go up to 96GB or above?
