good morning from Italy, happy new year and thanks for the video. as other listeners said I've found this rule a little strange. I understood the rule but I miss the logic. if Audra told me just a second ago that she is (was) fine and I immediately report it to my friend who i'm talking (by phone) i would say "audra told me (that) she is fine" because only three seconds have passed, so she is still fine. so my question is : in the everyday life do you use this rule ? or is it quite formal and actually you say to your friend "Audra ( has just) told me she IS fine". thank you for your work !!

What if she said timeless fact like (winter is cold and summer is hot)
You say she said (winter was cold)

She told me her name ‘was’ Andrea. Does that mean she will never be Andrea someday in the future?! Why past tense?
