The sports science on Buxton is insane. He covers 20% more ground than any other outfielder in the game!

I'd like to give Mike Trout and Andruw Jones a mention. Prime Trout made everything look so easy. And I never saw an outfield cover ground as easy as Andruw Jones.

I have always been such a homer that it was and is incredibly difficult for me to get excited to see an opposing player. Bo and Griffey and Ichiro are very much on the short list and add Darryl Strawberry and Andrew McCutchen.

HAHAHA! No mention of Deion Sanders, likely the greatest athlete of all time. Ok. Deion Sanders is a better athlete than Bo Jackson. Deion Sanders could have gone pro in basketball as well and he even considered being a 3 sport professional athlete but the schedule wouldn't have allowed for it. Jackson was a terrible basketball player. 3 sport athlete (Deion Sanders) vs 2 sport athlete (Bo Jackson). In addition, Deion was a better baseball player than Jackson in every way except for HRs- despite the fact that Deion was primarily a football player while Jackson was primarily a baseball player- Jackson considered himself baseball-first, while Deion considered himself football-first. Unlike Jackson, Deion was only a part time baseball player, yet he was still better than Jackson in every way except for HR power. Deion also had the more impressive and better all around and more dynamic football career. With football, Deion was offense/defense/special teams, while Jackson was a single position player. Deion is a better athlete than Jackson, and it isn't even all that close when you think about Deion being a 3 sport athlete vs Jackson being a 2 sport athlete and Deion being so much better in general at both football and baseball than Bo Jackson. Not to mention the fact that Deion's body was built to actually stand the test of time of being a professional athlete, unlike Jackson. It really isn't even all that close.

I watch Baseball for almost 40 years, for me it's gotta be Bonds Griffey and Shohei Ohtani, with Barry and Ken the fielding and hitting and Shohei as the best player, even though he does'nt play a defensive position, to be an elite hitter and pitcher, Ohtani will go down as a top 2 or 3 all time in Baseball.

It's kind of annoying when people say Bo Jackson was the best baseball player they've ever seen, when his stats really didn't back that up. His highest batting average in a season was .279, and he averaged a .250 lifetime average. Griffey played for 22 years, and had a lifetime .282 average. Bo Jackson should be nowhere near any discussions when it comes to the greatest baseball player of all time, because he doesn't even come close.

The ridiculous revisionist history of Bo Jackson continues... Bo Jackson was NOT a good baseball player. His defense was horrible in general (made a flashy play once in a while, so what), his BA was bad, his OBP was terrible, he struck out all the time- including leading the league in 1989 despite missing 27 games, and he wasn't even a good base stealer. Deion Sanders was better than Bo in baseball in every meaningful way except for HR power. Jackson never even posted 4 WAR in a season and only averaged 2 WAR (that's it!!!) per 162 games and ended his career with a total of 8 WAR- less than the value of 1 single prime Mike Trout season. The hip injury is irrelevant because Jackson was already almost 30 at that point. Bo Jackson would not have been a great baseball player if he had fully devoted himself to it. He was an ugly, fundamentally very flawed player.

Bo Jackson and Griffey are great choices. Personally, I’d add Josh Hamilton in there as one of the best raw talents I’ve ever seen. Wasted nearly a decade of his career abusing his body and still became an MVP winning player. Crazy. He might’ve been Mike Trout before there was a Mike Trout.

Griffey was a notch below Bonds.. he whiffed too much... ie Bonds had season with more HRs than SOs. Griffey always whiffed 2-3X more than HR's.. and after age 30 Griffey never drove in 100 runs ever... iow the 2nd 1/2 of his career was borderline HOFer at best...

Buxton????? Lol. Less than 600 games in 8 seasons. 1 gold glove, 106 hr, .243, and 79 SB. He is horrendous. What about Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Rickey Henderson, Lou Brock, Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonds, Tim Raines, Bernie Williams, Alfonso Soriano, Andre Dawson, Steve Finley, Alex Rodriguez, Carlos Beltran, Reggie Sanders, Ozzie Smith, and Vladimir Guerrero.

Bo Jackson, Ken Griffey Jr., and Ichiro Suzuki definitely top choices.
