Moving the chechen is one of the best things to do. You applied survival of the fittest, and 99% of the survived became the fighters father, mother

Boris Yeltsin was a terrible president. Under his misguidance Moscow became one big giant Mafia owned Casino, Russia became third world again, and the Russian military was rendered so powerless that a small group of resistance fighters from Chechnya could defeat them.

Englishcitizen and others, you all can check chechnya is a part of russian federation so noone was invading it was the conflict inside. imagine for example Texas state decides to become separate country from united states and begins a war against U.S. beheading its citizens, making explosions in different citys killing civillians and other shit. dont you think that it would be crazy or normal, and what U.S reaction would be? if you would want to know reality you would find everything. peace:)

War is evil, but genocide is much-much worse. I am not a stupid anti-americanist, but US used so much smaller reasons to start war against various peoples, didn't they. The war was not uncalled for. The war was justified. I know it sounds horrible, but what would you do if you get tens thousands of your people killed? I agree though that the decision to start the war was also driven by Eltsin's aspiration to gain political rating as a result of a "small victorious war" which he expected.

thierrywalker1 - So do amercans or australians deserve genocide because they settled somewhere? Please also do not confuse flat and mountain part of Chechnya. Russians always lived in a flat part, Grozniy is an old Russian fortress, which then developed into a big city and industrial center. From its foundation and until 1991 it was 90% populated by russians and cossacs, 10% ukrainians, armenians, jews, etc. At the moment it is almost 100% chechens and 0% of any other nationality.

It's very analogous - remember, relative to other Arab states life in Iraq was relatively modern and decent place to live. and a much stronger superpower pounded them into dust. Iraq wasn't THAT fucked up, especially compared to its neighbors, and definitely compared to the rest of the 3rd world.

Just considerer this. Russians used to be around the 30 percent of all population in that region at the end of the 80s. Now there is about 1 percent of Russians in that region. Many of them were killed by Chechens and many of them had to move to other regions where it was safe. Those who had to move were not able to take any property with them.

...to recognise numerous facts of genocide against Russians and other non-chechen people in Chechnya in 1991 - 1994 but it has always been refused. They were saying that they want it to be quite in Chechnya, they do not want to aggravate the conflict and destabilise the current situation in Chechenya. As a result the facts of a very recent historical crime is not known both in Russia and on the West. You should know both sides of the story. I do not deny Russian army crime as well.

There is a huge amount of evidence in internet and press confirming that many thousands of Russian people where murdered just because they were Russains in Dudauv's Chechnya. Authorities say that over 300,000 Russians (basically 95% of them) had to run away from Chechnya just in 4 years. 20,000 of Russians were murdered by Chechens. You may ask why this is still not brought into attention by Russian authorities to the world? Russian parlament has been actually asked several times...

The important thing that the documentary is missing is the genocide of non-chechen people in 1991-1994 period. This was a period of chechen nationalist separatism supported by chechen leaders. This was a time of anarchy where chechens had an unofficial licence to rob and kill any non-chechen people.

No, there is an ongoing insurgency triggered by the Iraq War. Things were pretty shitty in Iraq under Saddam but what is happening now is much worse. At least people over there can vote now.

Iraq was a sovereign state before us invasion. chechnya is a subject of russian federation and a part of the country for last hundred years at least. feel the difference? i do not think that you have any exact numbers how many people were killed neither in Chechnya nor in Iraq. and i don't even think that it really bother you.
