X shape or pea sized amount in the middle of the CPU is the way to go with thermal paste. This lines of dots method seems almost intentionally designed to create air bubbles which lead to uneven cooling. Think of a dozen blobs heading towards each other from different directions and you will visualize how the air in the middle sections gets trapped.

also ordered the exact same frame kit and for my lga 1700 socket. The following problem I tightened the screws just like in the video and then with a few turns. During the last turn it cracked so easily on a screw. Is that bad ?
Or has someone already had it? Should I be worried about the motherboard now?

Today replaced my frame with the Thermalright one, Z790 Asus with 13700KF. First test was like 5 degrees of the Intel frame. But stable high all core overclock tested with fixed vcore. Which is a better method of testing than with everything on auto settings. So not too much but for enthousiasts, it's worth it.

What's the in-lbs torque value for the screws on an LGA 1700 socket, to ensure even pressure distribution?

Absolutely useless instructions with no details on buckle tighting torque. If you try to tighten buckle all the way down, the CPU won't boot and may actually get damaged. Second paste application is absolutely incorrect. Overall my advice is don't do this at home.

did the same to prevent my processor from bending, I bought this thing and now my processor goes from 70 to 80 degrees, this went up 10 degrees plus my processor, before it didn't go above 72 degrees, I don't know what I did wrong, don't press the screws with force, precisely because when I put it on I heard a small creak on my motherboard, does anyone know how to solve it?

Okay after procrastinating and fearful of doing the mod with the Thermalright ILM I did it. 12700K overclocked to a 5.2GHz on two cores and an all core at 5GHz I was getting temps in Cinebench at 90 to 91 degrees. Once I installed the ILM, I am down to 79 to 80 degrees, a near 10 degree drop!!!! Very impressed with Thermalright and great job both on the ILM and price...Will do what it says..

I used to hit 90°C on all P-cores after 1 or 2 passes in cinebench now I can do more than 10 passes and hit max temp of 81°C on 3 p-cores, 80°C on 1 p-core, 79°C on 1 p-core and 75°C on the last p-core and this is all under a constant 100% load.

P-Core Clock Speed
2 p-cores at 4.9ghz
2 p-cores at 4.7ghz
2 p-cores at 4.5ghz

On a core i7 12700k, with a Noctua NH- d15. I got a 7c drop on cibebench after a 10 mins stress test. Room temp was 23.6c. went from 80c to 73c, all fans maxed out. Impressive!

I aways removed the cpu latch completely and just use the water block or AIO cold plate to hold the cpu in place. Then i use a precision torque driver to get even pressures on the 4 mounting screw.

Does this modification affect installation of cpu cooler ??

will this also be valid on the Z790 / B760 etc? Will the LGA1700 socket issue persist with new motherboards too? being the same with Intel's 13th gen, or despite the identical socket will manufacturers be able to modify / refine the LGA1700 to eliminate this contact problem?

So I just got it and installed before on prime 95 I was getting over 89 degree’s c now it dose not go above 78 this works I will endorse it just don’t over tighten screws turn them with two fingers untail it stops then a 1/4 turn after that and it’s done
