Please do not judge image quality solely from this video alone, because our camera's limited dynamic range cannot fully capture the HDR presentation accurately.
Also, 2017 OLEDs introduce some blue tint off-axis which is unavoidable due to our camera/ TV placement, leading to colour differences which are not present in real-life viewing.
But hey, it's in 4K! :-)
How do you get the Apple box to display info like mbps ? And that it’s actually upscaling the picture? I’ve been dying to do that for years
ОтветитьLook at Digital Foundry for how to do these kinds of videos. Yours have too much opinion and not enough visual proof.
ОтветитьGreat ads 😂
ОтветитьYou could say its a small difference but as a viewer its a big difference especially if you want the best viewing experiences. Small things change the overall experience.
Ответить4k people liked this 4k video on 4k videos ahah
ОтветитьCan you do an updated version of this video?
Thanksss
Yeah it's over. Just like CDs. Mass general consumer market can't tell the difference and streaming is convenient
Ответитьcrt is better
1080p and 4k trash!!!
Is there a Bitrate/quality difference between the Apple TV Box and the Apple TV App for TVs?
ОтветитьSo Sony had the lean back style Television idea from you! That was truly trend setting^^
ОтветитьI would love to give this video a thumbs up, but I don't want to change the current amount: 4K 😀
ОтветитьAre there night and day sound difference ?
ОтветитьIt’s time to redo this shootout.
ОтветитьStreaming is more convenient, but I really prefer the higher quality of the blu ray disks. Reason, I play extra for Netflix premium but the compression is so bad that I really don't notice a difference. Vs if I pop in a disk it's like night and day.
Edit: obviously the difference is hard to notice if you're scrutinizing still frames. But when the image is actually in motion is when you notice more compression artifacts.
could please compare with the new apple tv ? compression codec may have changed as well than player
ОтветитьWas it a bought Movie from itunes? What about the Audio Performance ?
ОтветитьGreat comparison but you need better gear to be able to actually capture the difference you see with your eyes.
ОтветитьImpressive how we have gone back 10 years in quality. streaming vs dvd. The sharpness and definition and sound of bluray is far superior, however the bluray dvd is doomed without an offer that an equivalent quality. On netfix we can even see the pixilated image. To watch streaming any 1080 TV is more than enough and by itself's ends up disguising the excessive compression of the streaming.
I have a Panasonic 1080 with 16 years and see better streaming than in my new 4k 4,000 euros. Shame!
Good job HDTVTest and thanks, but we've gone back 10 years
Ok, since asian guys with glasses are usually the best source on stuff like this: I have a question no one could answer.
Suppose I rip a Blu-ray losless and uncompressed in MKV and put it on a hdd/ssd drive and connect that drive with it's cable (USB 3) to the TV.
Will the picture and sound quality be as good as when i play the disc on the bluray player that i connected to the TV with a HDMI cable?
Also i could connect the drive the movie is on to the bluray player, because the movie player also has a usb port. So the movie would go from the drive to the player to the TV.
Would that effect the quality, or is it irrelevant, caus it's the same file aftet all?
Actually wrong on the film grain. They scan real film grain and add it in for digital during the post processing.
ОтветитьThanks .
ОтветитьI think Apple TV has become better over the years. I have an HDMI 2.1 with 48kbps. I believe if you download the content to your Apple TV, you will get a bit rate that’s close to the bit rate on the UHD. You can’t get accurate video transmission while streaming content. You have to download the content from the stream. That way it will decompress the video and get it closer to the UHD.
ОтветитьI’m using 106 screen with Sony 325es with Apple TV an Netflix vs 4k dvd an I say save the money stick with streaming more difference in audio but I won’t download movies or use dvd.
ОтветитьThere is no comparison to 4K Blu-ray will always look better!!!! (Streaming is always compressed and not a true native 4K image as well as severely compressed sound you will never get Doe B Atmos 7.1 from the stream) A standard 1080 P Blu-ray looks better than anything streamed
ОтветитьI am wondering here and reading…
I read that Apple upgrades every movie to 4k, so I am thinking that I should buy my movies on DVD and have the Apple 4k auto upgrade. Am I reading this wrong, is Apple upgrading to 4k or not?
PS: just noticed that Vudu is upgrading everything you buy to 4k.
Do you know what looks better on transformers Netflix premium or a 4k ultra hd dvd
ОтветитьVincent, you need to do a 6-way comparison of HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision by both Bluray and Streaming for 2022.
ОтветитьSteaming can not match Blu-ray quality ,not even close. Most of people do not care about quality, specially next generation.! new generation the Millennial just pure dummies.!
ОтветитьI would use the 4K SDR, let it do it automatically
ОтветитьThat ending made me laugh pretty hard. Thanks for making this video.
ОтветитьWhy are you using big SFX movies for all of your comparisons? You know these are always shot in 2K, right? A better comparison would use movies actually shot in 4K or better and movies shot on film and scanned at an appropriately high resolution.
ОтветитьI always download 1st on Apple 4K instead of streaming
ОтветитьBe interesting if you could compare using the Apple TV app via the tv directly or an Xbox etc as well
ОтветитьCan you also make a comparison between Apple TV vs Netflix?
ОтветитьWatching this because I’ve had enough of paying iTunes for movies I don’t even own. What’s worse is I can no longer see all my downloads when trying to watch them through Apple TV from the macs Library. I wish I’d of just carried on buying the physical media as more reliable. Plus you can sell it if you want to make a little money back.
You can’t download 4K so anyone with a slower connection is basically up shit creek.
My experience is that the disc has better picture and audio quality compared to iTunes, but it's close.
ОтветитьThat QDH1 codec by the way just means that it's HEVC + DV, ist nothing they created themselves
ОтветитьThe differences of the quality is so less that we actually doesn’t need to talk about. It’s the personal taste if you like physical or digital Media.
ОтветитьOne thing I’ve been pleasantly surprised by is just how good my trusty Apple TV 4K has rendered Dolby Vision streams these past 3 years. A majority of my guests and family can discern no real difference, especially considering how well LG OLED outputs color contrast. Sadly for myself, I still feel I can tell a real difference in audio quality over a 4K 50gb Blu-ray Disc, and our internet speeds which I run off the Orbi Mesh routers is consistently hovering around 300-400mbps. This tells me there’s still probably some inherent technical limitation (although I’m not totally sure what it is). So for special occasions I continue to refer to the disc.
ОтветитьI wounder if one day these streaming services will let us download a movie before hand to have the full experience.
ОтветитьVincent, how do you enable the stats/details on the Apple TV? Apologies if this has already been asked/answered somewhere down the thread. Thank You.
ОтветитьI would like to know the HDR 4K quality difference between a Sony A8H built in android app and connecting a Apple TV4K to the same TV?
ОтветитьI don't understand how a Blu Ray Movie usually about 15 to 30 GB Files are comparable to Apple which are only like 5GB??
ОтветитьSince I just got the 4K on disc that I have in iTunes 4K UHD Blu Ray is better
ОтветитьI like 4K UHD Blu-Ray but I now personally purchase most of my films from iTunes, I just don't have enough shelf space left to store physical media (I literally have enough for 5 more films hahaha). Also iTunes is cheaper whether it is a new release or a discounted sale, a new 4K UHD can cost $36.99 AUD whilst it is $24.99 AUD digitally.
The Indiana Jones films will be released in 4K soon and will cost up to $119.95, I just purchased the digital set for $19.99 recently and will get the 4K upgrade for free once it's available.
Is a downloaded 4K film just as good as a film on 4K disc?
ОтветитьThis doesn't hold true anymore tho correct? Most new 4K UHDs come with Dolbly Vision?
Ответить
