This was just an excuse to demand their seperate administration/state/country which they’ve been planning for decades. Manipur was once a princely state ruled by Meitei's king. Nagas and Meiteis are the indigenous people of Manipur. Kukis only came and started settling only in 18th century and hence calling Manipur as their ancestral land is purely baseless. There has never been an Anglo-Kuki war. Its a fabricated history which the Kukis are using as a way to show that they are indigenous people of Manipur. Kukis are not an indigenous community of Manipur at all.
