My dad went from a KZ 750 to a 1980 or 81 GSX 1100, which he had for most of my childhood. I use to watch him cleaning and syncing those carbs and tuning that bike up for year's and it was some of the best memories of him from my childhood. He also lost two toes to that bike. 😂 This video hit different for me.
ОтветитьEvery three videos or so, please explain step by step more like you did with that kick ace doodle lady. Like how/what did you do when hooking the battery up the first time with that jumper??? Was it even a jumper?
Ps
This is my favorite video yet....
owning a bike like that is my dream
ОтветитьMy first motorcycle was a 1981 Suzuki GS850G, I loved that bike.
ОтветитьI just started watching The Beard Dude and I am very glad I did. You’re a blast to watch. I used to do exactly what you are doing now. Old junk to WTF it runs .????? My first was a Kawasaki 350 triple. Screaming nut case of a bike. Then Hodakas. There’s a true love 💕. Thank you soooo much for showing us your stuff. Very very cool. Love from Canada 🇨🇦
ОтветитьDo you ever actually rebuild these to original and clean? Or just scrap them?
ОтветитьMan! I did not know the GS series was the GSXR papa. I had a '80 GS450, better on the street than the freeway. Then I got a '82 GS750. Drove it on the street a lot thinking it was a gutless machine, then finally took it on the freeway. Hit 7000 rpm faster than I knew what hit me. After settling into the bike's response got hooked! Found myself at a Suzuki dealership being offered a sponsorship on a GSXR 1100!!! Provided I went to Superbike school... and the wife demanded life insurance which was too expensive for a reckless married kid... Been man cryin' ever since. My fishing trips equate to about the same - no fish, just colds.. I do miss that bike more than that ex so no more exes. That Hyabusa... I'm gonna go find out what it can do...
Ответить"To the untrained eye, and my wife, all these motorcycles look the same." 😄
ОтветитьGreat production
Ответитьthe only needed sponsor of WD-40
ОтветитьMy guess the air vents was plugged up, and was nothing wrong with the needle and seat. Ask me how I know lol!
ОтветитьNice bike and good job 👍👍👍
ОтветитьI just inherited a 1972 Suzuki 380GT with 625 original miles. Thanks for posting this!
ОтветитьP.S. love your list.
ОтветитьHay Craig why don't you ever use carb brushes when you clean jets I know you have some I saw them when Blinky was rummaging through your toolbox.
ОтветитьWhen you do tape the battery down. Remind of a Canadian show Red Green. Where he tape a part on then say “ if they don’t find you handsome, let them find you handy” So am not saying you’re not handsome but you are rather handy.
ОтветитьI was going to get a '79 GS750 but there was a black GS1000E sitting right beside it on the show room floor. The price was not that much more and I checked to see if I could get about $400.00 more on the loan. I could! The GS1000E is one of the best 1000cc bikes ever made. The 750 was awesome, I just wanted a little more beast.
ОтветитьI have a 1983 Honda shadow 750 that I can’t wait to get to. It doesn’t run and it sat for 2yrs outside but I think I can get it to run again. This channel is giving me all the confidence I need to getter done!! ❤❤
ОтветитьIt was 16 valves before the gsxr. When gs went to gsx esrly 80' it went to 16 valves. Gsxr was the mid 80' racing engine's with bigger bore and shorter stroke amongst some differences.
ОтветитьThese videos are great. love watching these old bikes come back from the dead, even if they will never become daily drivers again.
ОтветитьSomeone should restore this bike to its former glory. It looks so much better than most modern bikes.
ОтветитьThe cranks on the 1000cc bikes were a weak point and often need to be strengthened. The motors were all roller bearing motors which gave them an advantage at the strip!
ОтветитьI owned a 1978 GS1000 that was bored to 1100 with to many hipo parts to list. I sold it four years ago after owning it for 17 years!
ОтветитьWD-40 is literally designed for electronics and wiring.
ОтветитьHi bearded mechanic, I am a long time follower, just thought to ask a help. I have a 1982or 81 (probably) honda xl 500 s . My mechanic says it needs camshaft and rocker replacement. Which are a difficult find. Please help.
ОтветитьPlease get a ventilation system. You can still smell em. 😂
ОтветитьYour videos are gold for people whose dad meant well but fell a bit short
ОтветитьRPMs triggered me a little, because it is RPM - revolutions is already plural, and minute is singular, per minute, so RPM is good, RPMs is some what redundant?
ОтветитьI've got a 79 gs850g I've been working on for a few years. I got it in pieces and have slowly been putting it back together. Unfortunately I'm lost when it comes to carburetors, and this thing needs a carb rebuild/cleaning.
ОтветитьThose old Japanese motors are virtually indestructible. First bike was an 82 Yamaha XJ650 barn find that hadn't been on the road in almost 20 years. Carb clean, replaced the diaphragms and fired right up. Some electrical and brake stuff I had it on the road regularly.
ОтветитьMiss my gs1000. All you had to do was breath on the start button and it would start.
ОтветитьHaha "old historic bike"........Among my riding group in my teens was one of these GS750 when it was only a couple years old. I was still on the relatively young 1975 GT750L. I progresed through the GT250, GT380, GS550, GS850G, GSF1200s, (a lot of other brand/models along the way) Suzuki fan boy still DL1050. I remember wrenching on all of them. Still have my original timing light gun from the GT750 (actually had 2x consecutively).
Love watching your work, its like a trip down memory lane.
I love your videos!
ОтветитьI wish Marketplace had bikes like that at this price for me... :(
ОтветитьOk what flew out of the fender during the burnout?
ОтветитьI had 2 GS 550 specials back in 81 and 83, so seeing this 750 running again is awesome
ОтветитьI followed a link to this video and wanted to comment about how annoying the constant jump-cuts are, only to see that I already complained about it four months ago. The jump cuts are still annoying.
ОтветитьThat bike looks awesome exactly as is. Get everything working as it should and leave it alone.
ОтветитьEpisode 2 please 😊
ОтветитьAwesome episode, thanks for filming it. As one battery strap to the seat enthusiast to another, virtual hi five! Had an older cb650sc, i learnt it didn't charge the battery until you were above 2.5k rippems. Not ideal if you gots a lower capacity battery and am stuck in stop and go traffic. Bomb start and keeper above 3k rpm got yeah home 😆.
ОтветитьWhere did you hook up the battery since the wiring wasn’t working?
ОтветитьDid you end up keeping this bike?
Ответитьis it me or do you find you talking to yourself even when your working by yourself
ОтветитьAerokroil is 1000x better than WD-40, you should give it a shot
ОтветитьAwesome!!!!
ОтветитьI have a 1981 Suzuki gs850g that’s been sitting for a few years now, needs a new exhaust (disintegrated). I start it every now and then to get the fluids moving. I don’t ride anymore but I’m really considering giving it some new life after seeing this come back to life.
ОтветитьCouldent save that bungie cord that got caught in spokes during that burn out but its nice when things go your way when getting old stuff goin nice job
ОтветитьI hope they paid u $300
