Should You Buy the Sony a6000 or Sony a6300? Discussion

Thanks, the information was helpful. My A6000 recently stopped working, was debating upgrade or replacing, I mostly shoot stills, so easy decision. Plan on selling my none working a6000 on Ebay for parts/repair only, they seem to be fetching about $170 for none working.

A6300 has softer 1080p video than the a6000

Microphone port on the 6300 but not on the 6000 made the decision for me

Im a dancer that throws a lot of sessions and parties. In low light as well as high light places. Loud music but also a lot of people yelling and screaming in the back. High speed/fast moving subjects are being recorded as I move around as well. Im assuming that the A6300 is the choice but should I get an A6500? or is there something even better for the money. My budget is less than $1500

why do all the photo sample videos of the a6300 look so much better than the a6000? is it that less skilled photographers are using the a6300 than the a6000?

Great, stright-ahead, no BS comparison. 1 question though; build quality, is the A6300 better built enough to offset the price difference?
BTW, I was a long-term NEX-7 user (until it was stolen!) and I loved that camera. Got a bunch of vintage high-quality lenses with adapters, too. What's your view on that route to good lenses for Snny mirorrless cameras? OK, 2 questions : )

its not just 4k bro!
1. Its the 4k on a6300
2. its the 120fps slow motion on a6300
3. Its the no audio out for a mic on the a6000
4.Its the view finder in 6300
So its more than the 4k .which of course is also important to some people

I love my a6000 :)1080p for now it s enough .the problems with 4k is that you need too much storage , the files are to heavy and you need a huge screen to really see the difference. the only thing missing for me , is that you can t record at 120fps .

Sorry for the noob question, but does no audio jack mean just no support for a microphone or does it mean if I record a video and put it on my computer, it will have no audio at all? I thought the mic jack was just for better audio

@THAT1CAMERAGUY I need help i am barely starting to get into photograhy but i cant decide between sony a6000 or sony a6300 or the newer one. I do need video but i dont think 4k is that important i don't think also my pc does 4k i will be using premium pro to edit vids. i want to make work out vids or vids when i go hiking and travel make cool vids of my family mainly since i am barely starting and learn in the processes. I will also be taking pics i was thinking get the sony a6000kit and get the sigma 30mm 1.4 and another lens or go with the a6300 with the sigma or 6500 just kit lens but since i am just starting is all that extra stuff really important should i just go with the cheapest and learn i have never used the cameras so idk if the difference is that big. what do you think i should do advice would be greatly appreciated. is the body important can the 6000 perform the same as the other with good lenses??

For me the a6500 was the right fit. It had two features I really wanted. 1) IBIS since almost all of my lenses do not have OSS. 2) The deep buffer so I can use high speed burst for a longer duration.

Thanks for the video! I'm at this point right now, i.e. do I go for the 6000 now or save a little and get the 6300 a little later. My main drive is to get a more compact camera that I can shoot stills under my control, i.e. has full manual control as well as lots of auto. I also want to use it as a second camera to my main video camera the NEX-VG30 with a 18-200mm power zoom and a sony 50mm prime lens, so I can shoot two camera scenes which I want the option of having tried to switch back and forth with over the shoulder scenes - (with me as both characters ;-) ). It seems to steer me to the 6000, and as you say I can get more lens, and I guess upgrade the body down the track and still use all my lens. Thoughts?
