ОтветитьThe block is not usually closed. Many of the Russian tanks internally burning in Ukraine also spit flames out of the barrel. For the result it doesnt matter which way in the grenade takes
ОтветитьLooking at that video the tank appears to be imobile, probably abandoned my guess is it was damaged beyond repair and they set it up so it would blow (opening the breach, stacking explosive inside etc) also the flames are not consistant with explosives but more likely fuel dumped inside as most explosives would have just produced a shockwave and blew out the hatches so if i had to guess they probaby got an abandoned tank rigged it and filmed it as a propaganda stunt.
Side note the best place to shove a grenade is through viewing hatches
Nothing too bad happens. Tank barrel, chamber and lock are DESIGNED to stand an explosion which sends a 23 kg steel projectile 8 km away. Propellant charge is 6kg, hand grenade has 60-120 grams (2 to 4 ounces) of explosive. A mosquito fart. Very Hollywood.
ОтветитьI would be surprised if some ounces of explosive can detroy a tube that have to handle pressures from multiple lbs of nitrocharge... 🤔
Ответитьwe have have all seen that Syrian video were some dude throws a grenade down the barrel
ОтветитьWhy waste time with a grenade when you can use a cheap drone to destroy the whole tank? War has changed a lot in the last few years.
ОтветитьI thought Tradeau would of replaced Canadian tank ammunition with giant tampons.
ОтветитьThis always interested me, but I never dared to ask...
ОтветитьA bunch of nothing provided the breach is closed at the time.
ОтветитьThe wagon that got knocked out by a grenade down the gun barrel was an abandoned vehicle, with a bomb load of ammo, and its MA breach was in the open position.
One of our guys did the same to a T-55 by chucking a British L2 frag in to the turret. It did go up, full bomb load. (Op Granby 1991)
I always thought the top hatch would open and you would see someone's hand toss it back at you?
ОтветитьOnly in Hollywood movies!
ОтветитьTank barrels are so tough there is a bunker buster bomb that was designed using a tank barrel as the body of the missile , engineers hit a brick wall trying to design the body of the missile to provide the penetrating power necessary and realised the tank barrel was the perfect thing.
ОтветитьPoor Joe Toye. Got himself a tank and he's still having to dodge grenades.
ОтветитьIt was a computer generated video fool
ОтветитьWatching this made me extremely angry. Why the hell is there a pair of hands made of meat reloading these shells when a machine could do so faster? What the FUCK are we doing??
ОтветитьIn the video, looks like the tank's breech was left open and got inside.
ОтветитьJust like shooting a 2m wide vent in a 160km diameter sphere space station, the scenario is a million to one shot. As opposed to a "design flaw".
ОтветитьObviously not. The breach would have to be open, which is never going to happen in an autoloading tank, and isn't going to happen in a tank with a trained crew either. You'd fuck up the barrel and that would have to be replaced, that's it.

Why is it always like that ?
Weird video. What happens. It explodes.
ОтветитьGermans fought russian tanks with granades. But they were applied from the outside in bundles. (Geballte Ladung)
ОтветитьI think the Syrian grenade was legit but the tank was abandoned. It should have been captured rather than destroyed.
ОтветитьThermite grenade > frag grenade for gun killing.
Ответитьinherently it seems to me that you have a piece of machinery designed to handle extreme internal pressure over and over, i wouldn't think tossing a smaller explosive directly into it would damage it (unless the breach was open)
ОтветитьONLY A THERMITE GRENADE, WILL MELT THE BARREL
ОтветитьNOTHING *
ОтветитьWhy not make a drone that acts like a face hugger to the end of the barrel. Once the drone is docked with the end on the barrel it injects a thermite grenade into the barrel.
ОтветитьIf the breach was open for loading for some reason, maybe it could detonate the ammo? But short of that, seems really unlikely
ОтветитьBetter off using a water bottle with gas.
ОтветитьNo, you would come down with a serious case of led poisoning!
ОтветитьI would think that the biggest risk would be detonating the shell in the barrel. It's not a question of detonating the charge in the shell, but rather detonating the fuse on the end of the shell, which in turn would detonate the charge in the shell. A high explosive charge is, by definition, burning faster than the speed of sound. This means that a shock wave would be generated in the barrel that could not be effectively dissipated before the barrel was destroyed. (That's why high explosives aren't used as propellant.) Also, blind luck still counts....
Ответитьit would DEFINITELY not go well lol basically all of that hot gas and shrapnel would fire into the breech inside the tank, althought there is all kinds of metal walls and corners between the soldiers and the breech, that pressure wave is gonna get in there no matter what and probably detonate anything inside
ОтветитьYou are signed by the JETS for hitting such a small target.
ОтветитьMy guess is the discharge will fire out of the muzzle causing no damage to the barrel itself.
ОтветитьThe Tiger tank was equipped with a demo charge for insertion into the barrel when abandoning the tank. Most crews discarded it because the commander didn't want an explosive charge stowed right next to him (Otto Carius, for example, carried a bottle of schnapps in the container for it instead). Without the charge, the way they used to disable the gun was to drain the recuperators then fire a round. This would cause the gun to jump its trunnions and destroy the recoil mechanism. You can see this in some WW2 photos of abandoned Tigers.
In Germany, I once saw a Chieftain tank deliver cans of beer to infantrymen in their fighting positions, by sliding them down the barrel.😁
Fragment and incendiary grenades are mentioned for obvious ressons...scattered debris and heat.
Concussion grenades carry a significant increase increase of force over the other 2. Could they jam a breach lock?
I suppose if the tank crew tried to fire the main gun after a grenade went off in the barrel they would be having a bad day.
ОтветитьGood ole’ whiskey pete! That’s the way we were taught on the island. 🇺🇸🦅🌎⚓️🇺🇸
ОтветитьWell, that depends. Is the tank barrel loaded? Probably nothing. Is it unloaded? Very fun times if the breach is also open.
ОтветитьIt is in Gaza not in Syria this is an Israeli tank that was blown up by Hamas
ОтветитьЭкипаж возможно не погибнет от гранаты а вот ствол точно придёт в непригодность
ОтветитьNot enough power to destroy the barrel
ОтветитьIt would be it depend on if you let the handle lose to activate the timer before you stuffed it in. Also if the gun is loaded or the breach happens to be open when the grenade goes off.
ОтветитьStaged
ОтветитьNot much if the barrel breech were closed. The rifling may get scratch up a bit.
ОтветитьThe T-72 seems fake imo. highly doubt a grenade could knock out the T-72 this way. Firepower kill, probably? or at least cause issue with rifling(if applicable) or alignment. total loss? no.
