I got introduced to StarCraft before Warhammer....And damn I love StarCraft More for the Zerg but love Warhammer for it's lore for the Tyranids. Like the Genestealer cults.

"Zerg are a race of insect-like aliens [...] who resemble arthropods in appearance." - pretty much nothing about this sentence is correct.
SOME of the Zerg subspecies can appear to be insect-like, but most are far from it. Zerg are not invertebrates, unless it would give them an advantage.
Same goes for "resemble arthropods". Some Zerg may appear to be arthropods, but most do not.
The primordial Zerg are hunters, who evolve by taking the essence of their prey, using it to become more adept. The Zerg swarm just optimized those traits and can channel the desired essence(s) into new larva, who subsequently evolve and become what the swarm needs them to be.

I'm old so I hate new things. I remember a time when the Zerg were just these parasitic worms before the Xel'naga showed up, saw some potential in their gene stealing abilities, then became the swarm through the creation of the overmind "the perfection of will".

Zerg are alergic to lemons, nd Abathur has no idea how to solve that. That's a fact.

I know blizzard is a questionable company but god I'd love a 3ps or fps style remake of the franchise that has a bunch of lore throughout the game. Like amazing cutscenes and contextual and flavor text stuff like a soulsborne type

The zerg, tyranids, xenomorphs, all take inspiration from the writings of Robert Heinlein.
The races of arachnids, humans and the skinnies influenced the designs for zerg, terrans (with power armor) and the protoss.
Even Babylon 5 modeled the shadows from Heinlein's description of the bugs

For everyone complaining about not mentioning the Tyranids.. just stop, you're embarassing yourselves.
The Tyranids 3rd edition codex (The one that turned them into the Tyranids that we know today) came out in 2001; Starcraft came out in 1998, and the Zerg were very different from what the 2nd edition Tyranids were.
The 2nd edition Tyranids were individuals, not a hive mind (nor was a hive mind even touched up on till the mid 2000's); and they spoke with bio-tech radios and carried things in pouches and used bio-tech and slave races.
Go look up what the 2nd edition Tyranids actually were and see just how un-Tyranid they are and the Zerg of 1998 are what the 2001 Tyranids used as a template for the restructuring of the army.

Here's A lil fact i found out: Originally the Zerg had their name spelled identical to Emperor Zurg from Toy story so they changed it to avoid Copyright laws

This is some good lore on one of my favorites other than the terrans. The zerg have awesome swarm tactics that i adore in factions across sci fi and fantasy.

Worst description of Zerg and Starcraft lore. Especialy for Sarah Kerrigan. Also story of Starcraft 1 have reveal in Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void.

Also, you show corrupters when you talk about devourers.

You do have some errors. Such as all buildings expanding creep and defilers plague killing any unit under 300 hp, but still good lore dump.

Whoever wrote the script seems to not fundamentally understand that the larva IS the zerg, it just evolves from there to whatever the swarm needs at that time.

Zergs are more common with Tyranids but this not means all three franchises can't have similarities.

If you add halo too then you have the 4 riders apocalypse.

Swarm, Nids, Flood, Xenos are great opponents to anyone.

I missed The Sarah Kerrigan lore

While I personally believe that robots are more efficient than organic beings...I still have a lot of respect for what organic beings can do (I mean, just look at some of the members of the real world animal kingdom, like The Lyre Bird, The Komodo Dragon, and The Turritopsis Dohrnii, also known as "The Immortal Jellyfish"). The Zerg are a perfect example to how lethal organic beings can be when their ability to adapt is taken to insane levels, and they are one of my favorite factions in scifi!😁

This is a complete retcon of the origin of the zerg from the original star craft instruction book with the background story of the races. The zerg were a parasitic race from the planet of Char, that the Xel Naga hyper evolved to be able to take in the genetic traits of other species.

A lot of you compare the Zergs and the Tyranids but I say, I prefer the Zergs because they could develope primed zerges that could think by themselves, also Kerrigan is bad ass. We will see if the 10th edition gives us an anti hero or villain like Kerrigan to the Kids.

I do not acknowledge the bullshit that SC2 presented or SC2 and its ending.
For me Zerus is still a lifeless wasteland, Zerg are still monsters and are distinct from Tyranids (and are not Tyranid expies and thus not bug dinosaurs like Nids are) and Kerrigan should be shot.
SC2 ruined the Zerg turning them aesthetics-wise not only into not!Nids, but the lore alterations turned Zerus into Jurassic Park In Space, Zerg into literal Dindu Nuffins like Orcs in WarCraft are currently and the whole Kerrigan redemption arc was badly done.
Here are my two cents and I don't give a damn if anyone will try to defend this and SC2's horrible story.

Very nicely done with research. But as some people already mentioned, Zerg have been probably more common ground with Tyranids of Warhammer 40K. They share a lot of similarities and is probable that they was inspired one by the other. Otherwise I have nothing else to say.

If we did a crossover vs on other universes, Zerg would thrive and completely dominate material reality in the long game. Star Trek, Wars, BattleShip, Star Gate, Many Space Anime. Zerg can be defeated but NOT eliminated or controlled because of their Hive Mind. Hive Mind is a concept created that entirely REMOVES the human concept of Sociability. Tribalism Undone!

Zerg are much more akin to the Tyranids of Warhammer 40k. They’re a space faring insect race that travels from planet to planet looking to assimilate biomatter through invasion and are governed by a hivemind. Then again, I believe Star Craft was supposed to be a 40k game so that’s probably why they’re nearly identical lol
