Todd, any reason you went out of your way to cover the Battery Tender brand on a trickle charger? You don't cover manufacturer names on other tools that you use to test. Just wondering and thanks again for a great video.

All these tests and didn't test the most important thing to many of us. How does the battery perform after going dead a few times. We know this ruins batteries but which one holds up best to this?

You Should Test The AAA Auto Club batteries. I've Used Them & They Are Pretty Good Batteries With A Really Good Warranty.

Been buying Costco batteries for a few years now, in the case where one fails under the warranty period, getting a new one there is so easy, some of the other sellers it's like pulling a tooth (hard).

Notice how the Duralast Gold and Everstart Maxx had the same CCA measurement? It is because they are the same battery. Any other measured differences between them are sample variance. The only physical difference seems to be the sticker on the battery. Other than that, the warranty programs and prices differ, despite it being the same thing.

I enjoyed this comparison vid. I used to sell batteries for Walmart in the early 90's. At that time they were made by B&G Technologies. I received more in returns than I sold, and I told everyone this so they would avoid purchasing a battery from Walmart. Nice to see Walmart corrected the problem.

I've had great luck with the MAXX-3 Walmart batteries. When you take care of them the hold up and when you don't you have a three year free replacement even without a receipt. I have replaced several in the almost 20 years I've been running them. Just did one a few days ago on my mother's car because she forgets to turn her lights off and this time it was unrecoverable. Didn't have a receipt but the stickers indicated 6 month shy of 3 years. Gave me a new one with another 3 year warranty. Too bad I take such good care of mine because i'm well past warranty but you can't complain when a lead acid battery is still going strong after 6 years. The AC Delco battery that came in my new truck had issues after 3 years and limped to 6 when it completely died.

Factory battery died today on my 2017 F-250 so I headed out to get a replacement. Ford battery lasted 6 yrs, but the dealer is closed so I have to go aftermarket. Advance Auto is usually my go-to, and I headed there. Then I remembered watching this video a couple years ago and went a little further to Wal Mart. Everstart Maxx was $140 with 3 yr free replacement warranty, Everstart Platinum AGM was $180 with 4 yr free replacement warranty. While this AGM wasn’t tested in this video, I felt the Everstart brand was worth trusting after seeing this video so I got the ES Platinum and think it was worth it. Once again PF helps a consumer make an informed decision. Thanks Project Farm! 👍

walmart/oreilly/autozone/les schwab/costco/interstste and many others are all made in the same factory in oregon. the only difference is the labels. most of the variation in quality is due to the operators that make the plates/form the batteries. not the labels on them

The two things this test didn't cover were longevity and quality control. It's for these two reasons I MUST warn people about the Walmart Everstart. It is simply put, the worst battery currently sold. I bought them for all three of my vehicles, a V6 Nissan Terrano, an I6 Jeep Wrangler and a 4 cylinder turbo diesel Land Rover Defender. The battery in the Jeep lasted a week. No idle strain, no aux lights, good alternator, just wouldn't hold a charge. They replaced it under warranty with one that lasted two months. And a cool little thing they don't tell you about your warranty, once it's replaced, they don't do it again. So I bought a Duralast Gold that has been going good ever since. The Everstart on the Nissan and Land Rover lasted 8 and 9 months respectively. So, while they test well, they won't get you home as reliably.

Man, I remember when a premium 3 year replacement battery was about $50-60 depending on the size. It's insane that now most premium batteries are wayyy over $100 and a good portion of them from AutoZone/Advance Auto Parts are over $200. That's not including the AGM batteries. They are $300 or more now...

Nice video again A bit late: you cannot charge AGM batteries with any charger. You need a bit more volts. Also, trickle charge of 750mA is ok for maintenance but not for charging.
