Nice video. I've just ordered a safefill 7.5kg. I almost fell over paying £42 for a blue calor 7kg! I have a station about 5 miles away that allow safefill 😀
Gained a sub, looking forward to seeing more videos.
Maybe im getting old , but the background music when you did the 1 through 5 segment was way to loude.. otherwise a great post...who knew gas cylinders were so interesting!!.🤣
ОтветитьI feel that you left the most important reason for having one of these type of cylinders and that is EUROPE!! Most filling station there has LPG refillable points and more to the point you can not get Calor gas in the Continent so you're stuffed if you have a steel cylinder. This is not a particular concern for the caravan brigade but certainly for motorhomes. This is simply another UK rip off that big companies do not want to sell you cheap LPG and force you to go down the Calor gas route.
ОтветитьBiggest benefit is for Motorhome, cost, weight and available in the UK and Europe..Calor gas weigh to expensive and plenty of apps to show you where to refill.😊
ОтветитьI Was recommended LPG underslung for my VW transporter as space is king and it keeps gas out of the cabin.
ОтветитьThanks for this vlog. Atm I’m struggling to locate a refill for my butane 7kg bottles and would certainly consider this as an alternative.
ОтветитьElectric vehicles are already redundant technology that was a government fad to get money from people while they slowly ban the car from the road
ОтветитьMine overfills. Supplier said watch the pump when you fill it!!! Defeats the object. Also I worry especially as it vents off when overfilled what happens when I open the boot of the car and the boot light comes on??
ОтветитьBest Vlog I’ve seen on safefill cylinders
ОтветитьWhat did you have to change/adapt. On your caravan to use the safefill? Does the regulator or pigtails need changed?
Ответитьwe have had numerous people trying to fill non refillable bottles at our fuel station, we are very cautious now when people fill bottles and double check before we authorize the LPG pump
ОтветитьLifetime of the cylinder?
Given that it looks like it's made of spun fiber it will have a shorter life than a conventional steel one.
Theyer brilliant until you go to Europe with them and you have trouble filling them.
ОтветитьMusic to loud difficult to listen to
ОтветитьWhen you say "don't wait for the cylinder to empty before refilling" ... how do you know how much gas is still in the cylinder, and how much to put in?
ОтветитьGreat video.. I’ve had safefill for 7 years and would recommend to anyone .
ОтветитьOne thing to mention around ehu. The price of commercial electric is normally part of the camp price. With camp fees becoming really expensive , I can see the sector changing its pricing being camp only and pay electric separately. If this is the case, using more gas for the fridge & heating would be a cheaper option. So, whilst you’re right for those who don’t like to do wild camping, I can see that the Safefill could be a benefit for those who enjoy electric hookup camping aswell . Personally, I think the product is brilliant and having one for 8 years, I would strongly recommend. Also, whilst sometimes you do have hunt for gas, ( luckily not a problem for me) I would buy 2 bottles, and take advantage of buy more and be less frequent to travel. I would also go for the 10kg bottle , which is only £10 to £15 more than the 7.5 kg you bought giving an extra 5ltrs of gas capacity. Not had a problem getting into the locker, but with some vans you do have to put in on an angle .
ОтветитьToday I've just bought a 7.5kg SafeFill bottle. A quick search on how to use it and your video popped up. I watched it all the way through and you've answered every question I had. I've yet to fill it up, so like you were I'm still a little nervous about the first fill. I'm lucky that I live less than a mile away from a BP garage that allows the filling of SafeFill bottles.
By the way, I thought your video was brilliant, so I've subscribed and heading off to see what else is on your channel.
Excellent video Rob. Cheers. I am going to buy the 7.5. 👍🏆
ОтветитьVery professional and informative video... Excellent!!
ОтветитьMusic too intrusive when you're speaking. Some great points, though 👍
Ответить200 quids 😂! May be ok for owner of £70k motorhomes, but bro we aren’t all that rich ! You can just buy an adapter for £35 and fill up Propane bottle far easier, same job just the anaesthetic! Sorry Looks nice but my way is far cheaper
ОтветитьVery good video, though we feel Gaslow cylinders are better with a separated filler. We think that more campsites will start filling cylinders as we have done. Though its a manual pump system which takes a little effort, we have been doing this for a few years now and it is a great service to offer our customers.
ОтветитьHave you had many refusals/ bad experiences at filling stations? I bought a gaslow bottle as it fit in my boat gas locker without modifications. Ive had success at two morrisons and one refusal probable due to ignorance. Can i ask where you filled up in your video as i think i live in similar area to you? Cheers.(ps. Great video btw ). PPS. If you use gas for heating thats when it makes a BIG difference
ОтветитьWell done for bringing up the issue of holding the cylinder still whilst filling up its bloody awful i now press my foor on the bottle against the steel safety ring around the pump and away i go , its still not good though
ОтветитьHi mate have you tried the bottle off grid just wondering if it’s worth going for the 10kg bottle myself we would only be using off grid on weekends in summer and don’t live far from a filling station I’m just wondering how far the gas goes as I would prefer the 7.5 option for weight purpose thank you really good video 👍
ОтветитьWhen you have filled it it to late. Howdid they stop you. Did you go in and ssk?.
Ответитьgreat video, thank you
ОтветитьMusic a tad loud at end
ОтветитьSAFEFILL UNCERTAINTY: I'm going to pass on the Safefill LPG route. Great idea, but when you enter into something where there is a reasonably high initial investment, you need to be certain that it will not be short lived.
DUE DILIGENCE: What I’ve learnt so far... Fill up points are few and far between, our closest Morrisons Ipswich a 50 mile round trip. Best to call ahead nice lady in Morrisons filling station can tell you how much LPG they have in the tank. HOWEVER... Ask if Morrisons will be continuing to supply self fill LPG the answer is... Who knows? Not very reassuring!
But the clincher for me was the impossibility of trying to find someone at Safefill HQ to talk to.
Also Email sent with no reply as yet.
Looks like Safefill as a company is fast becoming an endangered species.
So I’m out, as I’ve decided that I don’t want to own this problem.
Just as a side note:
Based on our Irish road trip beware finding LPG in the ROI (Southern Ireland) Their LPG bottles are threaded externally, unlike ours internally.
I’m thinking of changing to SafeFill, for two reasons mainly:
1; Prices of exchanging gas bottles have gone through the roof over the last few years,
Exchanging my 10 kg. (= 19 litres) Lite gas bottle currently costs £50.00, as opposed to £20.00 for the same size SafeFill bottle.
2: We are planning to tour around Europe in a few years from now, and LPG is much more popular and widely available anywhere in Europe, so re-filling is not a problem at all.
In my opinion, worth putting up with for a few years.
But the Main reason for me is that SafeFill has broken a few longstanding old traditions, and making gas bottle refillable is breaking a few barriers. Not only innovative thinking, but also providing competition for the “establishment”,
I love that and admire that, and SafeFill deserves a chance to become the new norm in bottled gas.
Excellent video. Well done, and thank you very much for such great information and comment. Cheers.
ОтветитьCan't get them now... 😢😢😢😢
ОтветитьYour video is well-made, but the (totally unnecessary) music is far too loud in relation to your voice. Don't try to spice up your videos with music while you're talking!
Unfortunately, the filling up of gas cylinders by private individuals at petrol stations is strictly forbidden in many countries of the EU. It remains unclear why the regulations differ so much among countries, since the behaviour of the technical devices are the same. Physics has nothing to do with borders.
Best video I’ve seen on here, basic information no waffling just important information
Well done Rob
Very balanced and informative Rob - Many thanks! Also, some great comments and advice below, so thanks for the comments.
ОтветитьAll very good but Autogas are going to stop selling LPG in 2024.
ОтветитьI’ve had my two 7.5 kg safefill cylinders for five years now and being seasonal has saved me a fortune over that time compared to calor. Your video has really helped me to understand the workings of the safefill bottles .I’ve noticed when I connect refilled cylinder it’s hard to connect pigtail, now your video explains why this happens due to the trapped liquid, once you open valve slightly it releases pressure and pigtail screws home. I wondered why this happened and now I know. Thanks for the informant video.
ОтветитьBy far the best video review of safefill I've seen. Just clear information, allowing the viewer to decide what's right for them. Well done!
ОтветитьWe're can you get the pig tails to change from calor connections
ОтветитьUnfortunately after buying a Safefill bottle I've found they wont fit in a Buccaneer Barracuda front locker! Can't say if this applies to other Buccaneer models? :)
Ответитьeasy listening and very informative great job
ОтветитьWhat a brilliant video. So well made and thorough. Thank you for this ❤.
ОтветитьGreat video, but music to loud
ОтветитьWell well my local garage 👍👍
ОтветитьIt's worth mentioning that calor gas is not available in the eu,so if you are doing an extended trip abroad get eu adaptors so you can manage with just one bottle
ОтветитьI just bought one and got a 37 mbar propane regulator, which has a rubber gromit on it. This seems to stop it screwing in all the way. I am wondering if it is safe to use, or i need a different type of regulator. Safefill website just says POL wheel type.
ОтветитьBrilliant video, thank you. I have two SafeFill bottles the 7.5 and 10 Kg for my touring caravan. I use the smaller bottle during the Summer primarily for BBQs and to get the fridge cold quicker on gas. I use the larger bottle in the Winter especially since electricity prices have risen drastically and many sites are now on metered electricity. I always check with the garage before filling my SafeFill to avoid any difficulties. I had an interesting conversation with the manager of one place when I asked if it was okay to fill my bottle. They said that they are told to turn a blind eye to travellers who illegally fill Calor bottles so why should I stop you! I've never had any problem filling my SafeFill in France either, I just bought a set of adapters.
ОтветитьI have a European motorhome that uses only gas for hot water and heating. So even if I’m on hook up, I still have to use gas. This seems a great idea, but I’m concerned about finding gas at stations.
ОтветитьDo this in Belgium and a lot of British pounds will go to the Belgian treasury. Remember that.
