My brother was a young boy and I his sister would sing this song as he played football in school.

My Dad used to sing me this song when I was little to make me laugh. He said one of his teacher's used to sing it at school.

I was going to comment on a rugby song but reckoned those little gems of popular English literature would be emasculated by censorship. I was briefly in the rugby team at my all boys grammar school and enjoyed being a three quarter with that lovely feeling of freedom as I flew off with the ball but because then I was slightly on the small side I was pressganged into being the hookernand not finding itmuch fun bringing the middle of a scrim of sweaty muddy bigger boys I gave it up. As for soccer, I didn't see the point of it (same for cricket) so didn't try and so was always one of the last to be picked for the teams on sports days. Once I decided I had had Enough of being the small guy and led my team of no-hopers in an assault on our betters. Jeremy Jordan was in my team that day. We attacked them all Guns blazing like a scene in a fistful of dollars, no Room for cowards, no regard for the Fallout. In Hong Kong at Reuters I had to deal with a lot of expats who thought games like rugby were super. Unlike the local Chinese who regarded them as yet another manifestation of the madness embedded in the Englishman. Anyway the yearly Hong Kong sevens was quite a big thing in the colony then. A fellow locally employed Reuters staffer called Grant McCool had the brilliant idea of sending live reports from the matches around the world , and I was to be the one to sub his copy before sending it out. He and the news editor,Alan Thomas came to where I was sleepily doing my subbing and they enthusiastically explained to me how I should handle the copy. I was so bored with the whole idea and the ease with which I could accomplish it we without instructions that I zoned out and was woken up by grant and Alan with strange looks on their faces.
