The key being able to come out with it running is very common in old early 2000s Chevy's, for example I have a high spec 2007 Chevy 3500 and the locks to keep the key in have just broken so you can pull it out

my dads 2005 ford f150 had a fault where you can pull the origanal key out probably cause it was so worn butt thats how we lost it lol

It's an old feature that allowed you to do that bc of the passenger airbags.. had a key hole to be abel to turn it's off while driving

I wasn’t surprised about this because on my 28 year-old car, the key is so worn that after starting it up, you can take it out of the ignition. Pretty nice actually because I can warm my car up in the mornings without being worried someone will steal it. Just lock the door and take the key with me and I’m good.

My old barebones '96 Nissan Sentra beater car was exactly like this as the ignition keyhole was worn out. Whenever I need to buy something quickly like at a convenience store, I just pull up and park, take the keys, leave the engine running, and I'll lock the doors. I'll be back after a few minutes. No need to start her up again.

My friend pulled out key from ignition and then wheel lock. :)

A buddy of mine from high school did this to his 2nd gen Dodge Ram and I was like wtf

I have a 2010 honda civic and you can take the key out if you jiggle it but I really don't recommend it lol

but the steering lock will come on and you'll be in a ditch in no time

I did this before when me and my dad went to pickup my dads car and drive our rental back to the shop, I drove his car without a key back to the rental place and my dad had the key in his pocket the whole time. 😂

I have an 80 series Landcruiser and a 105 series Landcruiser and I can take both keys out while running and start both trucks with both keys

All that showed up is the key/ignition is worn.
