configure diagnostic settings on resources (Exam AZ-303: Microsoft Azure Topic)

1. Activity Log / Control Plane Log (SUBSCRIPTION LAYER LOGS)
-- any operation on Azure resources/subscription can be tracked
-- audit events such as VM shut down, start, restart etc
-- outside (the management plane)
-- what, who, and when for any write operations (PUT, POST, DELETE)
-- single Activity log for each Azure subscription
-- mainly log resource manager activities.

2. System Level Logs
-- require an agent. Looks at things in-side a VM

3. RESOURCE LOGS (Diagnostic Logs) - Now called Resource Logs
-- No agents required
-- export data to an Azure Storage, Even Hub, Azure Monitor Logs
-- varies based on resource type

4. Azure Active Directory logs (TENENT LEVEL)


Storage Account Diagnostic Logs:

go to Diagnostic
-Turn On diagnostic - on Blob, File, Table, Queue
--turn on metrics - Hourly, Daily, etc
--data stored in Table storage

-turn on Logging
--logging data is stored under blog storage ($logs)
