Thank you! I am being given a Sony stereo amplifier. I have a Sony 5.1 AVR and it seems it is not putting the power out on the front left and right channels, but the center is plenty loud. My AVR does not have pre-amp outs though.

Is this modification going to lessen the demand on the AVR amplifier?

Can I leave the center channel on the AVR or should I try and run it off the stereo amp? It does have a zone A and B that you can run at the same time and some people do two stereo sets or have that send the signal a sub because this stereo receiver is technically a 2.0 not a 2.1.

Can I leave the Sub on the AVR?

Do you leave your amplifier volume control to max and then control master volume via AVR only?

@Audiolympian Dude, I'm from Brazil and I've been watching your videos for hours. What I thought was great is that your videos have subtitles and as my English is not very good, with subtitles I can understand everything. From what I'm reading in the comments, you managed to save thousands of people in the world who have the same problem of having receivers without preout. But I have a big problem that Russound doesn't sell to other countries. Which is sad because now we have the solution to our problem but we can't buy. I read in some comment that there are car audio converters that can do the same thing, is it??? I'm afraid to buy and it doesn't work out and I'll be even more frustrated

I see you have a pre-out for the sub. Why can’t you use that Pre-out. You never mentioned or talked about that. You said there was no Pre-out on that receiver but I see one for the Sun in purple. Can you explain. I’m still new to this and my reviver has a pre out for the sub also but it’s black instead of purple.

I am totally blind. I have no vision whatsoever, I recently purchased a Sony receiver model number STR Dash K700. It did not come with a remote sadly to say. I have a Alexa echo. Dot from 2021 it looks like a hockey puck I would call it. It has a power input Slot and I believe it has a auxiliary type slot. How would I connect this to my receiver because this particular model Sony STR – K700 only has a microphone out jack in the front no auxiliary jack out in the front or is this even possible if there is something I need to purchase for this thing please leave me the name and the particular model please it would be easier for me to navigate with the name and the model, I appreciate you so much. Thank you. Keep up the great work. Hopefully you can help me again thank you.

Hi, this review is very much helpful, but I am living in France and couldn't find it. This item can't deliver in France. Do you know similar items that I can use? 😢 By mistake I've bought a NAD power ampli. Now I can not fix it, to buy another preamplifier will be very costly. I have an integrated ampli and want to connect to power ampli. Thanks in advance. Cordialement Sourav.

It’s about time you made a video that shows the proper way to hook it up the first video was ridiculous. It was just you showing off your sound system and all the toys you have that video didn’t help us at all.. this is the proper way to make a video about that. Thank you you get a thumbs up.👍👍👍👍 that’s all we want to know.

I'm running 2 sets of Cerwin Vega speakers. I set is 4 ohm the other is 8 ohm. My JVC RX-888V is 4 ohm stable but has no preouts. Will adding this part change my already low ohm load and make it lower? I already have issues with it going into protection. I run a laptop cooler with 6 fans to help it stay cool but I can't lower my impedance any more.

Hello!
I dont know anything about preamps, or so, Now I have hometheater AVR at home, hooked up with my 5.2 channel speakers.

But I do have a second older 5.2 channel AVR as well that I am not using anymore.

Now I wonder, can I use the second hometheater AVR as a amplifiers for my left and right channel only?

Like: left and right speaker channel out from receiver 1, to adapter (in this video) to let say BD RCA input on receiver 2. And then left and right speaker output to my left and right speakers.

Hello and thanks for this great video. I have a DENON AVR X2400H that does not have preouts, so I should get some such device to increase the power. The Russound ADP-1.2 Speaker Level to Line Level Adapter that you recommended does not ship to my country, so please let me know if there is another similar device that can be purchased in Europe. Thanks again and greetings to you.

I finally found your channel...and I need your help. I have the Fosi Audio BT10A and I hooked them up to my Sony SSCS5, went to the bluetooth on my phone and the sound was sputtering...meaning off and on and off and on very quickly...Do you have an idea what that could possibly? Also I don't have an Antenna, could that be the cause? This is my first attempt at a home hifi system and I've been at this for about a month, and today, I have everything connected and the sound sputters...in putting together the banana plug, some of the bare wires got cut a little, and hey maybe that's the problem. I don't know but I know I'm tired of looking at these Sony's and they are not working for me, so please help this newbie

Or you could just ditch your cheapo entry level AVR with no preouts, and get a real AVR/Prepro with pre-out's included, instead!! That would make too much sense

It appears to me that the adapters should be housed in a plastic or metal box. I would be uncomfortable just placing them behind my components for fear of shorting out a channel of two!

Any idea or comments as to the audio quality of these adapters? There must be some reason that receivers with preouts are soooo much more!? ---of course I've always had the thought in my head: "How hard/expensive is it to add a couple more pre outs?"

I'm afraid I do need to offer a bit of a correction...
These devices do indeed work... sometimes quite well... and they may be the only alternative you have.
However.... this is not at all the same as using "preamp outputs" if you have them.
With virtually all properly designed receivers the preamp outputs are going to be coming directly from the preamp section.
(This means that, when you use the preamp outputs, you are BYPASSING the main "speaker amplifiers".
With this adapter you are taking the signal AFTER it passes through the main amplifiers in the receiver.
The problem with that is that the speaker amplifiers often (usually) add a significant amount of noise and distortion to the signal.
Therefore the sound quality when you use the adapter will not be as good as if you have preamp outputs and use them.
(The difference may or may not be significant... but it can be.)

This tweak still works great. Recently faced having to replace an earlier AVR while needing an external amp to adequately drive demanding original Carver Amazing Loudspeakers (which don't sound close to their best unless getting high current amplification with additional headroom) for which I'd been using an external Parasound D/AS II FET amp (that provides around 250 watts high-current power continuously per each stereo channel with clean peak power of over 600 watts per channel). Shocked to find almost no receivers under $1000 now have pre-amp outs other than for subwoofers for even R+L front channels including a relatively low-end Denon (AVR-S7860h) priced spectacularly at only $400 at Costco. Other than limited in power its own amps are surprisingly good -- even on their own drove the Carvers OK, but at the cost of a smeary soundstage with very loose and sloppy bass. Using the recommended Russound adapter worked at least as well as my earlier Integra AVR with pre-outs for all channels. You saved me at least $400-$500 dollars.

I don't know why many supposed experts claim such adapters are poor quality or not worth using. Maybe kickbacks from Marantz and others? (Just kidding... I guess)

I bought one of these last year and saved it in the box never used until I got my emotiva basX amp today. I hooked everything up and the left channel(speaker) has a very very faint buzzing noise with 0 sound when playing anything. The right channel(speaker) works perfectly fine. Again I’ve checked every wire and every connection. I believe it’s the adpater and I must buy another. Any thoughts? Thanks.
