A good pair of loppers or even secateurs would be a good idea.

Nice big pike Ginger. I'll ask you the same question that I've asked a couple of other YT anglers and didn't get reply's. What happens to all the lost plastic lures and bits ( like the tail of your blue shad ) when you don't get them back? Hmm?? Did that lovely Pike eat it and what is it going to do to the fish's body? We, as fishermen and conservationists want to keep our waterways cleaner and more productive than before and what are you all still doing?? Deliberately throwing plastic into the water?? 🤔 I don't own any plastic lures and refuse to use them. I've only ever used natural bait, polished metal spoons, wooden minnows ( I even worry about the paint flakes coming off them ) and carbon steel hooks. Hand carved wooden lures with no paint still catch good fish if they are presented well and have natural action. And forget about turbid water being no good for lures. Fish have lateral lines so they can 'see and feel' vibrations in the water. Cheers from downunda. :)

Hidden ponds are the best for all fishing I used to fish a few of them with my sister and two friends when we were kids

There was one lake it was hidden in woods in the middle of a farm and only a handful of people knew about it, it had all sorts in it tench perch roach rudd pike including a huge monster that we'd often see take birds and a big chub that was under a load of tree roots no one could ever catch no carp back then though
Now it's owned by a syndicate and full of big carp
It was an old chalk pit reportedly that filled overnight from a spring legend had it a train was still in the bottom it was very deep

Another great pond was one beside a road on a green not run by anyone it was full of golden orfe, crucian carp crosses of the two and the odd golden tench all that used to fight like hell

The reason I never fish light gear is incase I do hook a huge bass, pike or state record....trust me your not landing a 12 lbs fish unless you got atleast 10 lbs line lol

How cold do you usually fish your topwater on the other side of the pond? They get real big in some small water over there! Was there a creek leading to it? Great video!

BRO!! WHEN YOU ARE FISHING FROM SPOTS THAT ARE CONGESTED WIYH OVERGROWTH THAT HAS NO ROOM TO PROPERLY CAST,, you always bring a brush rod only a foot long w micro reel. If not do this trick!! It works best with open Bell wheels though but you hold the line with one finger on the rod grab the back hook on the curve pull and launch like a slingshot and release you'd be surprised yourself how far it'll throw any size lure give it a try the flex of the rod will actually launch really nicely

We call pike slough ( swamp) sharks. Good aggressive fighters but they wipe out all other fish from the slough.

Brings back fond memories of my youth, when my friends and I would go fishing for pike in a beaver pond close to my home. They were never this big, but they were abundant. Mom never let us bring them home. They were not that good eating; boney and tasted like mud. But we enjoyed our selves, and it was a Damm site better than being glued to some silly video game.

JV24+4CX Doncaster put this in Google maps, I would love to see you fish this place, caught some good pike in here when I was a young un it used to be run by international harvesters but I don’t think anyone has run it for the last 30years or so, I had a walk round a few months ago but It was totally overgrown.

Should be using a v style spinner bait with an oversized colorado blade , twist tail on the hook , then trailer hook with another grub twist tail. Mr. Twister tab tails drive em nuts.
