I have a 2005 anniversary edition VMax that I got brand new, and will have until the day I die. Grew up riding mini bikes and dirt bikes back when anybody riding a motorcycle was considered a thug or worse. How things have changed! Getting old sucks but as long as I can get on my Vmax, life is good!

I've hear with just an ecu flash you can add another 50 h.p and remove the electronic rev limiter.

Realistically, after riding one, they are quick, but the only way you would "fall of the back", is if it would flip over, even without the step in the seat. Liter sport bikes of the early 2000s were like that. Unless you were really heavy, you could not hold them wide open in first gear with a warm tire. You had to let up just a touch or they would loop out on you. Man, do I miss those bikes w/o all the riding aids.

I remember pee wee Gleason was getting 10’s. Said it would need a new rear tire within 500 miles of serious use due to the weight and torque of the bike.

Absolutely beautiful bike except for the instrument cluster. Surprised this was retained even with the new 2023 models.

OH MY GOSH !!!!! The caveman in me says, "Hmmm, Me kind of like." That bike is BADASS !!!! I had NO IDEA how badass these are. Why are these not spoken of in daily bike talk , or am I just in the wrong crowd ? EDIT : OK this is officially the coolest bike I've ever seen that I knew existed, but never knew existed.

Had the 85 it was the wildest bike on the road. My room mate took out a 30k life insurance policy on me because he rode it once for a very short (1mile) run and was sure I would die on that beast. Its raw power actually saved me more than once

You ride a motor cycle you don't drive a motorcycle

Mirrors and arms looks bad, silver with some black parts. They should make it all black. Shape of arms and mirrors could be more aggressive.

I use to blow past these bikes all the time . Driving my Gsxr1100r they couldn’t catch up. 1986 best year for Suzuki.

"Muscle bike!" thats the 1st time ive heard that term applied to a bike as oppossed to a car but that beast certainly qualifies!

the first muscle bike was the Honda Magna V65 with 116 HP.
which they advertised along side a jet fighter.
i had one, and miss it.
the magna i mean, not the jet fighter.
then came the VMAX. this bike is noticeably faster than the magna.

I had an 85.
The side scoops were not plastic.
The were aluminum. Of course they didn't do anything but cover wiring and cooling tidbits.

I got bored with mine and did an old school turbo'ed mine using a Weber carb straight through the false tank cover.

I worked as a mechanic in a Yamaha shop when these came out, and I can tell you with zero hesitation that the vmax was the scariest damn motorcycle I've ever ridden,without exception, and I rode pretty much everything available then. You couple the arms pull out of the socket power with the insane torque from the shaft drive, and you were sure death was another 20' down the road. That is not hyperbole. I'll never get on one again.

Spent 45 minutes buffing the V Boost tube? Each of them? A V Boost Tube Buffer? Wax On, Wax Off? Or Wax More On? Gosh…

Sport cruisers have too much low on the bike for me to feel comfortable trying to corner with sport bikes. I’d scrape it and drop it for sure.

A friend of mine died on the back of one. They are quite nice.
