Also, there is a reason why it looks like a 1940s film. It's because, that's kinda how night vision works. Basically, you have the photo sensitive plate, which converts photons into electrons, which go through the amplifier plate, then it outputs this amplified version into the phosphor plate, and it converts thos electrons into photons. That layer(phosphorus plate) is made out of a more mineral structure.
